Ask me your questions about WVU...

When you are a 10 point or more favorite, why even bring up the preseason practice situation? Just seems like whining. There are a lot of reasons why WVU is favored. Does he think that when he wins the game, it makes him and his staff look even better?

What's your score prediction?
I think this is a bad matchup for Tennessee. WVU is full of talented veterans. Tennessee is playing new schemes on both sides of the ball. A QB in the second year running Dana's offense usually sees a huge uptick on production.

I really think this is the most talent WVU has had in the history of the program.

I would be more concerned if this were game #5 than game #1 because WVU will never have the depth of an SEC team.

Given what WVU has on offense, given that the defense is finally healthy and for the first time in the history of the program has 8 DL who can play... I see WVU winning by more than 10.

WVU has a habit of getting up big and going to sleep. That's both natural but it shows the drop off in talent between WVU's first and second teams.

Will Holgersen be on the hot seat after losing the opener? I'll hang up and listen.
Dana has no excuses this year. WVU can't afford to go into conference uncertainty with a mediocre program. If WVU doesn't contend for the Big 12 championship this season, if they don't win at least 9 games, then I think Dana is out.

add to this - how much is his buyout ?
Fortunately WVU is one of the most profitable programs in the country. The Mountaineers are third in the Big 12 in terms of revenue and were $75M in the black the past two seasons. So if Dana isn't the guy there's plenty of cash on hand to show him the door and usher in the next regime.

It's difficult. WV's leaders are too mired in the past to see the future. But there is hope. Up north, near WVU, there is a huge tech industry around NASA, all things aerospace, and national security. That's the part of WV that's growing.
Honestly, mad respect for responding to my joke with some solid info lol

Dana is Dana... he's almost a little Bobby Huggins. But Dana is a smart cat, everything he complains about is eventually used to get something from the administration he thinks he needs to make the program more competitive.

It's a huge problem. The days of king coal are gone... but WV is so married to coal severance taxes that everything is dependent upon it. Southern WV is like a third world country. But, on the other hand, if you enjoy the outdoors and want to retire to a beautiful place with a low crime rate and low property taxes WV is it. I just signed a contract to buy a house on 8 acres of land for an absurdly low price.

If you want that "upgraded hunting cabin" just check the obits in southern WV.

Fact: There are four deer for every person in WV.

Maybe for next year, recent complaining will get him: 5 extra practice days for the season-opener!

Thanks for the info Mule. Looking forward to a great game.

Low crime rate / That alone is most-admirable -- satisfaction of life and family, regardless of material wealth, is a good thing.

WVU's fans are funny. If you remember in 2006-2007 WVU was a win away from playing in the national championship game. WVU was a 35 point favorite over Pitt and lost 13-9. Our kicker, who want on to have a long NFL career, missed two easy FGs and Rich Rod refused to throw against a cover 0.

So WV's fans expect the worst to happen. Going into the season most are optimistic but certain something bad will happen that will break our hearts.

We expect the worst.

So we hope WVU wins the Big 12, but we know something odd will happen that prevents it.

As far as the Big 12 goes... The Big 12 has been very good to us in terms of money. It's hurt WVU in recruiting and our fans get far more excited to play the Vols or NC St than they do Texas or Oklahoma. We're just too far away.

The hope is that one the next round of realignment hits WVU will get an invite to the ACC or SEC. WVU has been the SEC's second choice three times.

Personally I don't think WVU has the resources to compete in the SEC. Sure WVU is a SEC team by culture, but the ACC is where WVU would have the most success.

I love the Big 12. It's full of great people. Nice people. That's part of the problem there's nobody to hate.
