I think this is a bad matchup for Tennessee. WVU is full of talented veterans. Tennessee is playing new schemes on both sides of the ball. A QB in the second year running Dana's offense usually sees a huge uptick on production. What's your score prediction?
Dana has no excuses this year. WVU can't afford to go into conference uncertainty with a mediocre program. If WVU doesn't contend for the Big 12 championship this season, if they don't win at least 9 games, then I think Dana is out. Will Holgersen be on the hot seat after losing the opener? I'll hang up and listen.
Fortunately WVU is one of the most profitable programs in the country. The Mountaineers are third in the Big 12 in terms of revenue and were $75M in the black the past two seasons. So if Dana isn't the guy there's plenty of cash on hand to show him the door and usher in the next regime.add to this - how much is his buyout ?
Honestly, mad respect for responding to my joke with some solid info lolIt's difficult. WV's leaders are too mired in the past to see the future. But there is hope. Up north, near WVU, there is a huge tech industry around NASA, all things aerospace, and national security. That's the part of WV that's growing.
When you are a 10 point or more favorite, why even bring up the preseason practice situation? Just seems like whining. There are a lot of reasons why WVU is favored. Does he think that when he wins the game, it makes him and his staff look even better?

Dana is Dana... he's almost a little Bobby Huggins. But Dana is a smart cat, everything he complains about is eventually used to get something from the administration he thinks he needs to make the program more competitive.
It's a huge problem. The days of king coal are gone... but WV is so married to coal severance taxes that everything is dependent upon it. Southern WV is like a third world country. But, on the other hand, if you enjoy the outdoors and want to retire to a beautiful place with a low crime rate and low property taxes WV is it. I just signed a contract to buy a house on 8 acres of land for an absurdly low price.
If you want that "upgraded hunting cabin" just check the obits in southern WV.
Fact: There are four deer for every person in WV.
What exactly are the expectations at West Virginia?
What do West Virginia fans think of their Big 12 affiliation?
