I thought they might have been in storage. Sometimes they rust that way. I need to get another cast iron skillet. The one I had that belonged to Mom split down the middle awhile back. Best thing in the world for making cornbread among other things.

If you ever make it down this way you can go to the lodge cast iron store in south pittsburgh.

They have lids out there just measure yours. Course in the case of outdoor cooking you may want feet anyway. We use our indoors one all the time for chili and stew and the like.

I may just find an excuse to get another one for outdoor stuff if I can justify the use one day in the future.

Well, ya ain't getting any younger every day. You might find yourself car camping again or even with a small camper. Is you niece interested in the outdoors and camping?

I'll wait for a price drop. Looks very nice though. Did you get another one or do you even have one now?

No. They only had one at that price. Maybe no one wanted it because it was red. I don't have one now but will pick one up if I find a good deal. They're like a crock pot only quicker. I guess I've made just about everything in one before.

I work with the Boy Scouts so we use Dutch ovens a lot. Flea markets are good way to get them cheap but for new outdoor sets Lodge brand (made in america) is where it's at. It's what 90% or more of troops buy if they don't already have stuff.

Having white cream peas tonight. Never heard of them before.

Me neither, so I just looked them up. Apparently, it's an age old southern food. Looks like a white black-eyed pea to me. Reading about them makes me want them though. Where did you find them?

In a can at the grocery store. :) I love crowder peas, and black eyed peas. Figured I would like these too.

I marinated a "london broil" before I left for work this morning. Hubby just took it off the grill. Having the peas, collard greens, and slaw with it. It's my birthday dinner. Better than going out.
