Ha, trying to stay positive, especially after USCjr, is damn near impossible. I would think the negative side would be easier. I find it too easy to just say .....fawk it.:)

Oh, directly after a loss like that, the Nega Floooooooooows! It's easy to hop on, type crazy shyte, and bask in the misery. But eventually it wears you down. It's almost like I recharge when in one of the sunshine threads that talk about how awesome this season has been. Watching people lose their minds over some of the things I say. That part is fun.

But I'm tired of the negativity as a whole. I just want to be happy. I hope Tennessee destroys Mizzou. Destroys Vandy. And represents the east in Atlanta.

Me too.

Opposing fans, I could understand. Why you enjoy it when it's your fellow Vol fans, that I don't get.

Behr, I tried to make hot vinegar (that's what my great-grandmother called it). Wasn't the same, at all. I have no idea what kind of peppers she used. And of course mom's not alive to ask her (she used to make it to). Any suggestions?

vollygirl, we would make pepper vinegar with a cayenne variety. Harvest them green, toss in a red one for "pretty." You could try a NuMex variety, a chile d'arbol, or a jwala finger hot pepper.

The little cruet was always in the fridge, and it was just the vinegar (guess she threw the peppers out at some point, or just refilled the cruet out of something bigger) so I have no idea what they looked like or how many she used. How do you do yours exactly?

Harvest & wash the hot peppers, stuff 'em in a jar or bottle, fill it with apple cider vinegar, let it sit for awhile.

vollygirl, experiment. Try different peppers & vinegars. When you hit on something that's "just right," post about it.

I remember my grandmother making that too. I remember she used clear vinegar, so regular distilled would be what I would use.

I'm sure she used banana and Jalapeño, maybe even red bells. I know her and she would have used whatever came out of here garden, so nothing "exotic". Haha. If I were you and trying to get close to your grandmothers recipe, I wouldn't get too experimental, at first anyway.

I do remember she cooked the vinegar, salt and sugar mixture and poured it in the jar hot, over the peppers, which makes sense. Trying to remember that flavor, I want to say she used some of that pickling spice too, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Glad you brought it up, brought back some cool memories and I may try to make some myself sometime.

I remember as a kid sitting at her kitchen table and she'd have fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and turnip greens. And I got to be fancy and pour a little bit of hot vinegar on my greens. I only used it cause I thought the little glass bottle and stopper was so grown up. Then I realized I didn't like turnip greens without the vinegar.

Man, I wish I had some turnip greens. Or collard greens. Or mustard greens.

Same here. That's the only way my mom could get me to eat even a little "greens".

My grandad fished a lot and he always had some catfish. I liked it on that.

You didn't ask me but, you know as well as I do, there are some "fellow Vol fans" that are as bad if not worse than the fans of opposing schools.

Hell, even at times, Wylo.

:)

Volly,

It is just in my nature. Some people have musical talents. Some are sports heroes. Some just know how to push buttons. Guess which one I have?

It isn't really intended for people such as yourself. Not even for Behr or any other reasonable fan. It's for the fringe lunatics that take things way too seriously.

I've backed out of debates, or arguments from some people simply because they are too reasonable and make too much sense. Behr is an example of that.

But I do enjoy watching the feeble minded ones go bananas. Guilty as charged.

I know I'm an ass sometimes. I try to at least keep it light and enjoyable for most people.

I was on my mobile when I posted this and didn't have the patience to go further.

For the "Slice" that has trouble scrambling eggs :), I suggest the above. It's trouble free and allows a close to natural flavor. When venison was plentiful, back in the day, I tried many different ways, but that was my favorite.

If the "experimental" Slice wants to go all Mcgyver (sp), I can do that too, but I suggest keeping it simple.

Scrambled eggs I got.
It was an omelette without a non stick skillet that gave me trouble.

Your first answer was perfect

That's what we call a character flaw. :)

Omelet, that's what it was. I couldn't remember.

Cool. Turkey bacon ain't real bacon to me, but grilled with the deer meat, compliments it nicely. Healthier too.

By the way, nice picture of Red.:hi:
