Article: Why the Cleveland Browns are a perfect fit for Josh Dobbs

Didn't Cleveland win a bunch of NFL championships with Jim Brown? Plus they were pretty good in the mid 80s when John Elway was beating them in the playoffs.

So I'll have to disagree with you that Cleveland has always been a terrible franchise. They've just been really sad since 1999.

The Browns had 4 straight winning seasons 86-89 and was 8-8 in 85 with loses in the wc, div, and 3 afc champ games. Sinces 89....they have had 3 winning seasons and have finished last in their division 15 of those seasons.

But hey, on the bright side the Browns were really good in the 40s and early 50s...yeyah Go Browns.

It won't just be Dobbs. The Browns are lucky that they have 11 picks this year (5 of which are in the top 65 picks). That is a ton of picks in the first 2-3 rounds.

What makes this special is that this year's draft is absolutely LOADED with talent. IMO the 2017 NFL Draft has a chance to be one of the best drafts of all-time. This draft is insanely deep with talent at DE, CB, S, RB, TE, and LB. And there are many great players at the other positions as well. Teams should be able to find future pro-bowlers all through the 2nd and 3rd round. And there should still be many starting caliber players available in the 4th round.

With all those picks and this being such a deep draft, as long as the Browns don't eff up, they should come out of this draft with at least 6 starting caliber players. That should give them a nice core of players to build around. Sorta like the Raiders in 2014 when they drafted Khalil Mack and Derek Carr with their first 2 picks.

If Cleveland does something like this with their first 5 pick, it could spark a quick turnaround:

Round 1, Pick 1 - DE Myles Garrett (Texas A&M)
Round 1, Pick 12 - CB Marlon Humphrey (Alabama)
Round 2, Pick 33 - S Justin Evans (Texas A&M)
Round 2, Pick 51 - TE Evan Engram (Ole Miss)
Round 3, Pick 65 - QB Joshua Dobbs (Tennessee)

Those are 5 immediate NFL starters that can develop into pro-bowlers. A draft like this would help turn around the Cleveland Browns.

Marlon Humphrey will bust

I am Eric Berry fan and since I have started coaching I have become an Bill Belichick fan because of his genius on defense and personnel on offense. I liked the falcons system (Kyle Shanahan) but other then the VFL's I don't have a team... I mean I like the Titans and for the record when they get Marcus understanding the offense in a pro system... They will be one scary team to deal with... They would of been this year but it was good for them to see what it takes to win in crunch time... I am actually pretty excited to see them play next year...

Haha my bad man.

You don't have to apologize to that kid. He likes the attention, that's why he's here. I think he might be a spy for the salami athletics department as well.

I have respect for him because at least he is honest and stays true to his roots with no shame. he's not pretending to be someone else...and he is brighter than your average salami fan, but I still refuse to spell anything to do with that athletics department correctly. They are the enemy and I am getting sick to death of folding win I see red..... sick to death.

Northern AL folks tend to like the Falcons. Southern tend to like the Saints.

I'm from Nashville, and my family has had PSLs from day one. Shoot, I went to Vandy to watch the Oilers.

want to know a secret? I was born in Birmingham and my dad was an Alabama marine, and now I live in Ohio...

I bet a bunch of Ohio State lawyers Payton Manning would win a game and made like 600$ that night and became an instant UT fan back in the mid 90"s. I needed a new team because I hated O state.

Summary of the thread should be: I know nothing about the Cleveland Browns but I think Dobbs would be a perfect fit.

Dobbs is way more talented than Prescott. He can turn around Cleveland.

 said the last 32 quarterbacks that started for Cleveland in the last 20 years.

there's no way you can call yourself a Dobbs fan and root for him to go Cleveland and play immediately.

It's come to my opinion just this year that Sashi Brown may have been our problem all along. That contract though....unreal.

Tennessee (by its high standards) had fallen to Cleveland Browns level of embarrassment. In 2013 they just completed their third consecutive 5-7 season. They were losing to Kentucky and Vanderbilt. For a proud all-time top 10 program that was being the Cleveland Browns.

I'm not saying Dobbs can't be a good NFL starting QB eventually but there's a reason why they've had a thousand QBs over the past decade and a half. Around 20, I believe? There's a trend and I don't think Dobbs has the superstar talent to turn them around from day one.
If they make strides in supporting cast and in a few years if Dobbs makes the changes needed, maybe. I just don't see that happening.

D4H, if you want Dobbs to succeed in the NFL, you don't want him to go there and start right away and prefereably never go there.

What's even worse is that the Browns are quick to announce EVERYTHING via social media, but not this one. They are keeping this as low key as possible. I think we may have just lost Pryor and they were caught with their pants down adn with no receiver.

did we just trade Pryor for Britt?

:thud:

Through all this chatter Mitchell Trubisky has never left the middle of the conversation. I think he will be a Brown, and that would be a much better first choice then softserve Garret and his whining about the cold. Could Mitchell Trubisky be the first choice of the draft after all?

I don't believe that free agent signings are official until 4 pm Eastern. Hence, the silence.
