Article: Exit Interviews Should Be Very Interesting

Coach up or coach out the door. happens daily in real life with strong leadership. It hurts in the short-term but the team responds and attitude improves. People will work their tails off when the crap team members are gone bc the black cloud is gone and they know you appreciate their efforts. We never really heard about premedonnas until Dooley and Butch. I’m sure some have been around but they didn’t bring down the whole team.

Pickens? Kelly Washington? Brandon Stewart? In these cases and others, like you said, they didn't bring down the whole team. Butch's prima donnas actually sucked on top of everything else, intensifying the resentment of those around him. (I guess Stewart's mom was actually the prima donna.)

True that.

Bituli was fired up at the end of the 1st half.

Any info on that?

Well, Bituli was one of the players still out with injury even though he dressed. Just guessing, but it seemed somebody didn't want to hear his input at the moment. Looked like normal sideline abrasiveness. Nothing to make more out of it than that to me.

I thought the fire he showed was a good thing. He seemed determined that they heard his input.

These things happens every time a coach changes.

Doesn't mean a thing one way or another other than a player thinks that they can better their situation elsewhere.

Y'all calling any of these players who end up leaving soft may wanna actually put a seconds worth of thought into it given how many transfers Pruitt is going after. I wouldn't call Chryst or London soft. Got a feeling we will be glad to have guys willing to jump ship to the Vols come this fall.

I'd consider Cyndi Lauper a Pre Madonna......

UT has hired a real coach, and unfortunately, he did not inherit a lot of SEC football players. 2018 will sting, but its a chance to get freshman to come in and play. Anyone remember Saban's first year? that's what Pruitt is doing, spring clean, and get some real players at UT. I was a Butch fan, but I found out he was all talk and no action, this is the SEC, you can't recruit soft players who don't want to work.

Go Pruitt!

Yep. He took that 6-6 group of misfits and handed our new AD and former HC his azz on a silver platter, 41-17

Silly to bring Saban up when talking about Pruitt

Okay to bring up Phil though. Right?

It's apparent you have trouble with context.

Yes, it's ok to bring Phil up since the poster was asking if we remembered Saban's first season. Being a UT fan, that's what I remember about it. How we got our azzes beat by a terrible Tide team. But, but, but......we did win the SEC EAST. I'm still not sure Fulmer is the right man for the job as AD. Time will tell, but he has to prove himself just as much as Pruitt. Don't forget the slide with the program started 16 years ago while he was still HC

My point was that it's remarkably silly to compare Pruitt to Saban. It's unlikely he'll ever be in that echelon of coaching.

If coaching ability were a transitive property, Sal Sunseri would probably have a title or two by now.

I agree with his approach to the players but not his announcing it to the press. That's a rookie mistake in my opinion. These are internal, team and coach-player conversations. Flame away, but I'm right.

Pruitt going to win a national championship here. I can see it. This is a real coach here he aint making it easy for nobody thats including my nephew Brandon.. All any player want is transparency keep it real and honest and all pruitt do is keep it real with these guys and the fan base. This is how Nick Saban is.. Pruitt is perfect for Jennings and this what he was missing a tough hard nose coach that aint going to suck up to him because he had a few good games here and there.

What are you seeing? Because the only practice shown he said players were quitting

Given the context of the part of his post you highlighted, and the next sentence you didn't and Pruitt coaching under Saban, I don't think its "remarkably silly".

Its unlikely well see another one like Saban, but if we do, I'd bet that coach does a lot of the same things Saban does.

He is doing these kids a favor. Talent alone won't get you far in the pros...not nearly as far as development and good work ethic will.

If these kids listen to CJP and heed his advice they will be far more draftable when they graduate.

If draft isn't in the cards, at least they will know how to give maximum effort which will parlay into thousands more dollars per year than the typical 1/2 arse effort will.

Cut them a little slack. They've all been bait and switched since being recruited. None of them thought they were walking into a grease fire and rebuilding process.

I honestly don't want a player that is going to look back and cry "why me" and have a bad attitude and quit as Pruitt described. You either decide to move on and appreciate the opportunity or sulk and cry about the situation.

I say weed them out. If a player needs slack because of the situation they will bring down other players around them. They can join Hurd at another school if they don't like what's in front of them. They should be overjoyed. If not, we don't want them.

In the article, he didn't mention any particular players. I have no problem with him making that statemeant. If he had specifically mentioned the players that he felt had quit, then I would not agree with his approach.

Agreed. Several players were leaving/threatening to leave UGA when Kirby Smart came in, saying he was too harsh on them.

Looks like Pruitt is taking a similar approach.

Good Coaches are and I hope he gets it done But I like the attitude he gets them all to buy in and give there all he will win.
