Army Guys?

Look, I understand that you are 16 and maybe you just got through watching Full Metal Jacket or 300. Maybe at this stage in your life you actually would find joy in killing someone that you believe deserved to die. However, if you plan on enlisting the United States Military, you need to re-examine that perversion over the next two years. Having a bloodlust does not lead to heroism. More often than not it leads to international incidents...
If you think I am going to go and kill people then I think you (no offense) need a reality check. I'm not going to pull a Columbine, or Virginia Tech. That's not me. I couldn't stand watching the VT news and stuff. I feel for those families and friends of the victims. I would never ever do such a thing.

After reading my original post, it did sound kind of crazy on my part. And I apologize. I just hope you guys don't think I'm a bad person or anything by saying what I said.

But you kinda gotta bear with me. I'm probably the most patriotic teenager you will ever meet, and I'm not even kidding.

Sorry if I came across as some sort of psycho and stuff guys. I'm 100% mentally stabalized if that even makes sense haha

Nuff said. From the words of General Sherman. Aingenation...pray you never experience this.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.

Lol it's fine. I pay attention in Social Studies, I know how harsh it is.

Maybe not first hand. But I'm willing to go through hell if it saves one of our guys' head.

Also- I'm not trying to act stubborn. I really want to join the service.

I know this isnt what this board is for, but i was just wondering if there are an Army Ex-Army etc. guys round here. Im 18 and I am probably about to enlist as an 11B with Airborne and the 40x option to attend Ranger School and RIP. I would welcome any advice or words of wisdom. Oh and if anyone has any negative comments about my choice, no offence but screw you, its my life not yours, and someone has to do it, might as well be me.

:salute: I was a Major in the Army Medical Corp. Best years of my life, though I was lucky to have been in during peacetime. You will make lifelong friends in the military. Learn the military way (Yes-Sir, No-Sir) and us the opportunity to advance your education if you don't make a career out of it.

Keep a low profile. Do exactly as you're told...no more no less. Doing more makes you a kissup and you'll get trashed for that. Doing less makes you a deadbeat. I made it through the end of 12 weeks at Benning and my drill sergeants never knew I existed. I tore my knee up and the guy behind me said "drill sergeant Private Helf is injured." The DS said "private who?"

Basic is all head games. They are there to break those nasty little habits we have in civilian life. Benning was tough because it was 13 weeks. Others have shorter times in places those in the infantry like to refer to as cakewalks.
