Arion Carter surgery?

If he doesn’t play it’s because someone is better than him, not due to the injury.
Can’t agree with this either. I know of players over the years who had to try special order cleats because their almost permanently swollen toe joint couldn’t fit back in their cleats. Imo, coming back 100% after acl is not as big of a challenge as 100% after turf toe. That toe joint takes a beating and you don’t appreciate it till it doesn’t work anymore and can’t bend it to walk. It’s hard to get that range of motion back and play at a high level without it recurring.

You realize this is a fairly common injury in football now? And yes coming back 100% from any injury is a challenge.

It was burrows left toe, not his plant foot for power and he’s good enough to get the ball out quickly without having to have great weight transfer. Qbs also don’t violently change direction every play, often with contact, or multiple times in one play. I disagree when comparing the two regarding wear and tear on the ankles and feet. Qb like burrow may cover .75 miles during an nfl game where a lb will be cutting and sprinting 2.5-3 miles.
Where does weight transfer to from the plant foot?

Also I guess you have never watch Joe Burrow run from Miles Garrett hahaha

That’s what recovery is. Six months would be end of June. It’s not as if he’s going to be in a wheel chair.
I didn’t pick up on that.. Of course the writer would choose an ambiguous term over rehabilitation.

Recovery from what, the surgery or the atrophy? I should have known by the timeline. Bones heal in 4-8 weeks. I guess I assumed ligaments took months..

To the left foot but players tend to use outside of the foot when the toe is bad. As I mentioned, qb may run .75 of a mile as lb runs 3 miles. It’s not hard to do the math on the amount of pounding and bending of the joint if a player is taking 5000 extra steps, often starting and stopping and change of direction, per game.

Didn’t you know? The QB is the one who throws the ball.. Worry over his career if it’s an arm or hand injury.
Not saying that. It’s different movements. An lb is bending the injured toe pushing off the turf a couple thousand more times in a game. Nfl just had a 44 yr old grandfather off the HS sideline to play in an nfl game the next week. He could barely move. Won’t see a 44 yr old hs coach coming back to play linebacker.
Point was poster/s mentioned Burrow came back in a few weeks after surgery. Lbs and skill positions have no chance of doing that and being effective.

I agree. Mobility is a bonus for QB’s but not a requirement. It’s certainly a requirement for any defensive player.

In fact, QB can afford to be the least mobile player on the field and still be the best player on the field.

So are a number of injuries . We just hired a S&C coach who had the lowest rate of injuries in College football. I believe we will see less injuries this Fall than we have seen in the past.

Sounds like really bad turf toe to require surgery. If he has 6 months of recovery and hasn’t had surgery yet, I doubt he’ll play for us next season.

How quickly can someone get back in football shape after 6 months of recovery?
You would be correct in your assessment if the season started in July. He gets the surgery now he will be back by fall practice
