I am still optimistic about the season. IMHO, a trained chimp could have coached this talent to seven wins last year. CLK, regardless of what some may think of him, is considerably more intelligent than a trained chimp, as are the other coaches currently on staff.
The D will be nasty. End of commentary re: defense.
Crompton seems more comfortable in the offense, so though our best WR talent is considerably banged-up, I am relatively confident that Quinton Hancock, Hardesty, and the new incoming talent can provide him with sufficient targets. A confident, competent, pedestrian QB can cure ALOT of talent issues among RB's and WR's. See generally Erik Ainge, 2007.
My only real concern is whether the O-Line can keep Cromp on his feet long enough to deliver the ball in an intelligent fashion.
I'm sticking with my original over/under of 8 wins. Any less than 7 and CLK's hire looks somewhat disastrous. Losses to Bama, UF, Ole Miss, and prolly UGA (though I think this is our best chance for an upset because, hey, it's UGA. See generally Eric Zeier, Garrison Hearst, Robert Edwards, Quincy Carter, Heinz Ward, and Joe Tereshinski)
