Are We Sure Dooley Runs a Pro-Style Offense?

If Chaney runs the offense he had at Purdue, then it is far from "pro-style". Lots of four wide and empty sets just without the qb runs that we are used to from other spread teams.

Correct, but we didn't see Chaney calling plays last year, so there is no way to predict what he would run, his coaching philosophy could have changed by now. That offense was a site to watch however, and I would love to see it run here. The offense is very similar to what Mike Price runs at UTEP, Erickson at Arizona State, Petrino at Arkansas, and Linehan in Detroit.

Here is some plays if anyone wants some examples, I have their 1999 playbook as well if anyone is interested.

Pretty sure we will somewhat see what we are accustomed to seeing at TN, however I'm wondering if we will continue to use zone blocking with our OL.

Chaney is a great offensive mind but I hope we don't run the spread exclusively. We have some high quality running backs and I don't want to see them wasted in an overly pass-happy offensive attack.

Also.....if Stocker decided to stick around we have a top notch TE that needs to be targeted consistently.

This. Stocker can make some money in 2011 if they throw the ball his way in 2010. Chaney was a TE's coach with St. Louis right?

We might see more Shotgun, 3 and 4 wide sets; that might be good because Bray ran that type of system in high school.

Coaches have to adapt the playbook to the talent they have (Rod didn't do it in Michigan and paid for it with their worst losing season ever).

We ran an option when we had Holloway in the 70's
With Saunders at OC, we spread it out with 4 and 5 wide (when we had guys like Willie Gault to throw to)
The past few years, we haven't had much of an offensive scheme at all (unless you use a different definition of "offensive"). R2D2 will evaluate and I think he and Chaney will upgrade the offense and a few wrinkles

Every time somebody reposts that video, somebody needs to post a vid of a fumble followed by a Fulmer clap.

I'm sure there's lots to choose from out there.

I played High School FB back in the mid/late 70's, and I guarantee you, Louie Alford at Bradley Central wouldn't clap or grin after a turnover. :clapping:

I'd have been running full pads up and down the stadium steps till I puked, then would've had to clean it up!!!
