Are we really a top 5 team this year?

For on court success and national pub, sure, but not in terms of attendance, TV ratings, and money made. Other than one year in the Buzz years, the men have always done better in those areas. For as spotty as the men's history has been, they've still been pretty popular considering.

The higher attendance was pretty back and forth for a while before Pearl but men’s basketball in general definitely got more TV time. The LVs were steady in attendance for a while usually landing between 13K and 16K per game until 2012-13. Gee, I wonder what changed. They have been in a slide ever since and last year averaged less than 9K per game. The men from 2000-2012 were up and down as low as 12K and of course hit 20K a couple years under Pearl. Hopefully we will be pushing 20K again this year.

One of the few teams, if not the only team, where the first 7 guys are real weapons offensively and no weak link on defense. Other teams have more dominant players but not across the board like the Vols. Thats the main reason they are top 4.
