Are we just a QB away from being good?

If Bituli played all year and we weren't missing four d starters the first few games we win 10 this year. Availability of players seemed to be the biggest factor. Even when Bituli went out last night they had their best drives.

Bituli is underrated. I knew he was pretty good. But, IMHO, he's is head and shoulders the Defensive MVP of this team. When he hits you, then you flat go down!

I hope he makes bank at the next level! Looks like Pruitt pulls him on passing downs tho, so maybe he doesn't project as an every down guy at the next level? IDK

I appreciate the fact that Chaney is our OC, but you have to scratch your head on why he calls the plays that he does when inside the red zone.

Just doesn't make sense. Would be different if NFL.

A good QB would have won us the first two games but we'd have still lost to Bama, UGA and UF.

Would look good on paper but we'd still be in the same pecking order in the SEC.

We obviously need a good QB but we'll need talented depth to compete with the top half of the conference
That depth will be there next year IMO.

If so, would the Wake QB be an upgrade? I would love for Bailey to be able to redshirt next season.

I don’t know that any of our QB’s who played this year are truly capable of playing at this level.

I’d trade any of our current QB’s for Indiana’s in a heart beat.

We are a QB away from being good. We don’t have that right now.

Am I missing something? We put up 30 points against GA State and lost. If we had won that game 30-0, no one would have been critical of the QB play.

JG can be a decent QB at times, and at times he makes me want to drive my car off of the Henley St. Bridge, but let's not go without giving the D its fair share of criticism.

I don't understand the allure of wanting an elite QB to redshirt. If HB comes in and wins the job he will start as a FR SO JR and go pro....that's 3 years of him starting. If he redshirts he sits FR year, plays RSFR and RSSO years then goes Pro....that's 2 years of him starting....

TLDR version is 3>2

My only reason is getting him built up to take a beating against much bigger and faster players that he will be competing against.

He may be able to step in and do that, but I just don't want him getting beat up and possibly injured if he is not ready to play to the speed or take a hit. I also don't want him to get beat up so badly that he becomes gun shy as I still think that is part of JG's issue

Exactly. I dnt understand why everyone thinks he needs to redshirt. The only time that elite frosh qbs sit is when they have a stud in front of them which we obviously dnt. These guys are leaving early to play in the NFL anyway so u may as well get 3 yrs out of him instead of 2. I believe this actually increases a qbs draft stock if he puts together 3 yrs of good tape

Everybody knows that Guarantano singlehandedly lost all of the games we lost.

We need a QB, a big running back or two, more depth in the O-line, reciever replacements, a couple of linebackers, and better pass rushers.

Oh, and can we recruit better play calling?

That score was 23-38 late in the 4th. U can blame the defense if u want but the offense went turnover on downs, fg, fg, fumble, int, turnover on downs from the 2nd quater through the 4th. Ga st had the 121st ranked scoring defense out of 130 schools and we scored less then what they give up on avg. With better Qb play we pound Ga st easily and we beat BYU who did everything but hand is the game

Part of JGs problems I blame on coaches. The play calling in the red zone simply magnified JGs shortcomings. JG isnt good at picking out WRs in close coverage, yet they elect to throw about 15 passes in the red zone with this guy. Thats like asking Babe Ruth to steal 2nd base.....
This. This staff KNOWS what they have in JG and had a month to prepare a game plan. IU is not a good defensive team. They failed to lean on the run game in the red zone. IU gifted UT by playing soft, prevent at the end. The onside kick odds are not good and it went our way. Don’t get me wrong, it was executed perfectly, but onside kick odds are not what you hang your hopes on.
