The offensive line started out just as bad as last year in fact it look like Coleman Thomas was still the center. The difference is in this game they did seem to improve where is last year they just stay consistently bad all throughout the game.

Guys your forgetting a few things here.

1. You are comparing the last year of Butch to the first game of Pruitt. Pruitt doesnt even have 1/8 of the roster he recruited.

2. On offense, we are going from a non physical run around the edge team to a physical hit you in the mouth team. That takes a while to change that culture/ get big enough players to do it.

3. Defense is going from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and learning an entire new system. Notoriously known for taking a year to learn.

4. We started/ played primarily 3 freshman DBs against the first team AA QB with 3 phenominal WRs.

Good:
We had 0 turnovers and only 48 yards of penalties (with 15 coming on a personal foul). Yes, we have to learn alot in the new schemes but there is something to say on these 2 stats.

JG definately is improved. No one can argue against that.

Overall: The entire Defense is the biggest issue. I trust Pruitt will improve that as the season goes on. He has done that at 3 different schools.

Yea that was a team that had given up, and nothing to play for. This is a team on a new season, with a new coach, and anything or everything to play for.

The QB looked better, the O line looked the same if not worse, the D line looked just as bad, the secondary looked worse, special teams looked worse.

However not sure what people were expecting? Tennessee was plain BAD last year......and lost some talent, didn’t pick up much more........this will take time.

Like I said all off season an new head coach don't mean much. This entire team was poisoned by Lyle. UT won't be great again until the team is purged of all the Butch Jones stink that still lives in his old players.

Probably true but what if Pruitt creates his own stink on the players? Another 5-10 years before being competitive sucks to think about

The OL settled in after the first couple of series I'm not as worried about them. One of the few bright spots. The DL was mediocre to me and the LBs we re a non factor when that looked to be a bright spot going in. We cant blitz with FR corners and average safeties very often unless we get a lot better about getting there quicker. I like the aggressiveness by Pruitt and eventually think it pays off. He s just not good enough to do what he wants to at this point.

Save a couple frosh they are almost the same,
Kennedy got his butt handed to him at Center like I've never witnessed before at UT.

Can Kennedy improve, possibly, but don't count on him winning may battles up front

And you expected what? To look like the Tide? In game 1 with 2 freshman starting playing against a hiesman front runner with all day to throw and 3-4 really good targets to throw to?

He ll get the chance to prove that one way or the other just like Jones did. He ll either get it right or get fired just like anybody else would.

Huh?The second half you didn't hear from the old boy across from Kennedy because Kennedy whooped him like a squatted mule the second half. Kennedy was not the problem on our OL the second half like he was the first.

Like a squatted mule, that's funny, but far from the truth, he played better the second half, but that's not saying much
