I don't see him name calling. Might of missed the post in the hot garabage between page 4 and 22 but saying someone is being ignorant is not name calling.

Volnation debates go from being a simple back and forth to 3rd grade bickering so fast.

I suspect our friend is also ignorant of the definition and use of the word "ignorant". Too many people take think it is the same as calling someone "stupid". We're all ignorant in some way.

up until now the answer has to be yes. look where we are now compared to where we where. are you better of than you were 4 years ago. can Jones take us to the promise land ? he has earned the chance to try, however he should not be fired with out a better replacement found. not fired and then a mad scramble to see who will take the job in two weeks. when i look at the SEC there are only 2 coaches that are better.

Anyhoo, their football savviness runs circles around you. Your year 5 rants match your year 3 rants with Butch. We get it, you can't stand him. You change coaches as much as you would want to and it would be hard pressed to find a highschool coach to come here.

Here's another take for you...it's certain to elicit another hissy fit from you. Here goes....I strongly question whether you're a Vol fan or a Butch Jones fan.

Any criticism of Jones, no matter how objective, accurate, dispassionate or factual, seems to set you off and there you go, going all "Mrs Cravitz" on the poster, just nagging away like someone has insulted your mother or something.

Where does the actual Volunteer football program come into play here for you? It sure looks like your allegiance to the temporary football coach/current caretaker of the program trumps your allegiance to the actual program. I don't get it....I'm a lifelong Vol fan and the program's ultimate success is where my interests and passions lie, and if the coach is saying and doing things that are in any hurting the program or keeping it from reaching its potential, I'm gonna criticize....I'm gonna try to do it fairly, which is sometimes difficult to do, but I'm gonna post my opinion on here and in personal discussions. If you don't like reading it on here, ignore me.

Look, I was a big defender of Jones early on, and I've constantly, over and over the last couple of years, catalogued all the positive things that he's done to rebuild this program and put it on a winning track again. I've praised him for his recruiting, his work with the team apr, the mending of key high school coaches relationships, the marketing of the program, and yes, the improvement of our on field play. Prior to last year, I constantly praised him for how disciplined our team played, even in defeat. We weren't very talented the first couple years, weren't expected to make much noise, but we didn't beat ourselves doing stupid stuff, with dumb penalties under Butch. Last year, unfortunately, that changed a bit and guess what....I, and many others like me, was critical of it.

My criticisms of Butch are boiled down to essentially three things.....his constant excuse-making/setting of low expectations, his generally poor player development and his poor (at times epically awful) in-game management which has led to underachieving results.

There you go...commence your griping and moaning.

You do understand that pretty much no one hires a coach before they fire one, right? AD's keep lists, relationships, and search firms at hand in case their coach quits or needs to be fired. All competent AD's do that. But pretty much everyone makes the decision to "fire" before interviewing or selecting replacements.

Arkansas has a really hard time recruiting because there is so much competition for the top kids in the area. Also Arkansas is not exactly a recruiting hot bed. There and have been some top players come from there but not a lot. They really on Memphis, Louisiana, Texas, and OK kids a lot.

and...they're in the West, and play bama, lsu, auburn, ole miss, msu, aTm annually.

I post in both forums and would simply call them different.
What could be versus what is.

Here, most threads are, or turn into
"If that guy was still coach"
"what if we could get this coach" or
"what if Jones loses half his games".

Over there it's more what is.
"These recruits are interested"
These are our new assistants, here's some good things about them".
Jones is our coach, let's see how is good qualities could help us".

They've always been receptive and nice to me. They seem to just not want a clone of this forum. Would kinda defeat the purpose.

I have a family that's way more important to sit on here and put down the only coach that wanted to come to this dumpster fire.

I'm not moaning, I love ruffling your feathers considering your such an easy target that responds with a 10 page book for a post. Year 2020 and you will be here at the same time and Butch will still be your coach. Lol

Jones jumped at the chance to coach at a place and make bank to a level he wouldn't get otherwise.

He should send Dooley a thank you card every month.

We all know the only reason Butch is so low is because of the things he has said to the media. But it's funny because Coach Popavich said his main goal isn't to win championships but to make sure his players are good men to society. Or how coach K said he'd take a 2* with 5* effort over a 5* with 2* effort, and many things have been said like that by Head Coaches in every sport.

Those two also won championships. If Lyle starts winning big, then nobody would care about the media gaffes. I would also eat my crow with BBQ sauce.

But not so important that you feel the need to spend precious moments away from them defending any and all criticism of Butch Jones, real or imagined, just or unjust?

No matter how much you want it to be so, CBJ will not be coaching at UT in 2020 if his conference record stays at it's current level, or continues to trend downward. Repeating to yourself that he'll still be here won't help that fact. Butch owes Dave Hart for 2017, but his record will have to stand unaided after this season.

Which is my point.... It's hypocrisy. Popavich and Butch said almost the same thing, yet one was praised for those words, the other was called a laughing stock and a fake coach.

Which is hypocrisy, having a ring or no ring doesn't change the meaning of words. Popavich was PRAISED for what he said by the media and by fans. Butch was laughed at for months for what he said when they both said almost the same thing.
