Hopefully these kids understand that 1. when you have a fanbase as big as ours, you're gonna have some crazies, and 2. just bc a person claims to be a Tennessee fan on twitter, doesnt make it so.

Ive seen quite a few "fake" fans on twitter, acting a fool to give the school they are falsly representing a bad name.

To the OP's point, I dont see anything wrong with it in moderation. Twitter isn't too bad bc it's more about what you want to be public, whereas Facebook, imo, is was too personal.

I think differently about someone who "follows" a recruit on twitter, and someone "friending" a recruit on facebook.

Then again, this is coming from a guy that thinks facebook is the devil...

Is Volnation social media?
Technically yes. We can create our own content and submit it with little to no worry of review or revision. Social media is more commonly recognized as Twitter, Youtube, Facebook etc. but at it's root, forums are the same concept - just with a different medium to "broadcast" from.

I'm basing it off of Lambert's comments about the fanbase frustrating him on Twitter, because we apparently keep suggesting that he's not solid to UT and going to flip to Auburn.

Do these websites help or hurt us, in the end?

The websites don't hurt at all. Its the trolls and idiots who post on it who cause problems in many areas. Recruits should realize that a lot of kooks post on these boards and social medias.

Hopefully these young men realize that the naysayers are either trolls or just a very small portion of our fanbase. At least our fans don't poison trees and/or kill people over football.

I would say if it impacts at all it is to the good.

So, I guess this question would be unfair in the Bammer forum?

Don't forget that these websites also allow trolls to log on, "fake" being a fan, and bash a recruit. It can definitely be used for tactical negativity..

You are right! I saw someone on twitter telling Adoree that we didn't want that "n*****" here as he put it. I tweeted to Adoree that the poster was not a TN fan. He tweeted back that he knew that but some might not.
