Archie Manning on Guarantano

“I probably shouldn’t say this, but Peyton asked him, ‘Do your linemen like you?’ – because he gets the stew beat out of him,” the former Ole Miss quarterback said of Guarantano. “I’ve watched him. Bless his heart, he gets hit a lot.

This made me laugh and speaks volumes. It validates what a lot of us have been saying for years even back to Dobbs. Oline play has been the main thing holding back the offense for the past 8 or so years. Dobbs was able to cover it up somewhat with his mobility. But lets be real Oline play has been tragically bad the past 7-8 years. Its like having a dirty gun with a worn out barrel and misaligned sights. Can you still hunt with it? Sure but not a good idea its not gonna be very accurate and might just blow up in your face.

It’s possible that his O-lineman don’t like him. No one ever helps him up when he gets sacked 18 times a game. If anyone would notice that it’s Peyton, and yeah, “bless his heart” is not good from a southern gentleman like Archie.

Good news is we should all have faith that JG will be a lot better this year, because if anyone can turn a QB around it’s Chaney. Don’t forget the miracle he worked with Crompton. JG May never be great, but hopefully Chaney can make him (and the whole offense) a lot better.

Classic response when you have been presented something that defeats your views. Cannot answer a question? Well then ask a counter question.

It doesn’t defeat “my view” cause it’s a fact that he said it, but don’t let that mess up your view of our heisman QB.

Yeah Archie probably knows every little thing about QBs compared to Pruitt, but do you really think a defensive coach that’s coached at two national championship teams and known for his defensive skills can’t tell when a qb is holding the ball too long?

Fiction. The staff pulled out all stops to keep him. Soon as Scott Frost was hired at Nebraska, he was gone.
Nebraska will (finally) be relevant again in two years. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them in the Outback Bowl. We owe them a curb stomping.

Did you watch the games last year? First play of the season was embarrassing? Whether it miscommunication or not the O-line played pathetic for majority of the season and the stats prove it.

Did you? In the run game, yes, in pass protection, no. If that were the case, JG would’ve been sacked more. The passing videos have been put on here several times that show the o line did not immediately breakdown on the snap. Maybe you should watch them.

LOL. I bet Kiner wishes he'd never uttered those words.
Actually he never said those words. At a pre-season presser someone asked him about the writers saying Ole Miss had all the horses. He said some people go down to the farm and can't tell the difference in a horse and a mule, taking a shot at the media rather than Ole Miss. To John Vaught's credit he knew how to create bulletin board material and created the mule and Archie who. By the way even after losing 38-0 we shared the conference title with LSU. Ole Miss never won a SEC while Archie was there and we beat them 31-0 the year before.

I would have never guessed a dude involved in a football camp for aspiring QB's would say that any of his participants would have anything less than a good year. JG must be awesome good! 13 TD's in a season here we come!!

"If his supporting cast holds up, he is going to have a good year" can be used to decribe any QB at any level.
Nah bro. JG is amazeballs. Its just his O-line that holds him back. We have all seen this time and time again throughout football history.
