Hey guys recently I've tried my hand a few times at making apple pie moonshine at home (using grain alcohol, not shine) with varying results. I've met a few people in my short life that have had mason jars of awesome apple goodness and I really want to make some for myself. I've looked online but there's so many variations, most of which seem pretty weak to me (10-15% alcohol). I thought what better place to get a discussion going than a TENNESSEE forum
Can anyone offer any advice or have any recipes they'd like to share?
I've done a little reading about infusing the alcohol for 2-4 weeks in a mason jar with apple slices before making your mix and combining it all. Has anyone had any personal success with this? I've also heard about the use of honey instead of sugar, and even a little vanilla extract.
I've got a really nice juicer, because cider is seasonal and it would probably be better anyways, I'm thinking for the next batch I make I will use homemade juiced apples for my cider portion of the batch.
