Not sold on OU. The O-line is a huge question mark. Mateer didn't exactly light the world on fire last year either. He played in a soft league and got handled by the only playoff caliber team they faced. Ended on three straight losses, including to Wyoming.
I think they will be better this year, but if our defense maintains the momentum from last year than they will have a hard time on the road against us.
He did put up big numbers on the 2 best teams he played, Boise and Syracuse. Combined 57-80 690 yards and 5 TD's and 3 Int's. Wash St was just a Horrible defensive team and were 6th in total offense. His numbers were pretty equivalent to Cam Ward the year before and that Wash St team was 5-7. Last years team was 8-5. Mateer threw more TD's than Ward did. Ward did average more yards, but that was because Wash St only ran for 84 yards a game, while Matteers team ran for 166. Matteers team had a better record and better overall offensive production. I understand the playing in a bad conference, but so did Cam Ward and Josh Allen. If you can play, you can play. And I'm not saying he will light up SEC Defense's, I'm just saying they will be much better offensively this year than last, UNLESS they battle injury problems like last year. No team could win with all the injuries OU had last year
The "if" in that statement is monumental.
What if the frog had pockets? Well he would carry a gun to shoot the snake before he was eaten.
The Cam Ward and Matteers comparison isn't accurate because Cam Ward played in a Pac12 that was loaded against Power 5 teams that bolted later on for Big12 and B1G. Matteers played a Mountain West schedule with some Power 5 teams on it (Washington and Syracuse). The Pac12 of 2023 was also usually strong across the board, even on defense.
Tsk, tsk. It had to do with the start of fall camp, used to be referred to as two-a-days. Morning, then evening. I showed up with a Roger Daltry styled set of curls rather than my long straight blonde locks the team was used to seeing. Our offensive coordinator dubbed me chuckiepoo. It stuck. That was 45 years ago. Not sure if Chick Graning is still kicking or not. That team rolled to a State title.Your contribution is greatly appreciated! I'm betting you're in the running for poster of the year! Keep up the good work! I'm assuming you're a grown man..What adult calls themself chuckiepoo? That's Pedo sounding!..Good job creeper van!

But most of the talking heads admit our line should be better. We had a few young guys working their way into the rotation last year and picked up some good new recruits and transfers this year.Where will the offensive production come from? How does the repurposed OL come together? A lot of big offensive question marks that some of you just think will be magically answered.
At some point though Heuoel will lose to a team other than Georgia at home and it very well could be Oklahoma this season they are going to be much improved from last season and if they aren’t then Venables is likely gone.We lose on the ROAD. This game is at HOME. Heupel doesn't lose at home. Easy money to go with Tennessee in that one. I think Tennessee will be down a little but not down enough to lose a major home game. Defense and Running game wins this one.
I also don't really see how a Wazzau QB is such a huge upgrade. Using your logic, we have a 5 star, 4 star, and amazing transfer QB as well. We could have the best QB. People are crowning this guy and he hasn't even played in a Power 5 league.
"...though in the B1G." Are you forgetting that the last two FBS Champs were from the B1G? It won't surprise me to see OSU make it a threepeat. They had us at #15 last year in pre season and finished us at #8.
Those saying Illinois is misplaced may forget they too went 10-3 last year though in the B1G.
Well, we know why MI won. They cheated continuously."...though in the B1G." Are you forgetting that the last two FBS Champs were from the B1G? It won't surprise me to see OSU make it a threepeat.
More isn't always better. The SEC has 10 teams in the pre-season Top 25. Some don't belong there. Will they be there at the end? Probably not. I wonder if the Vols will even be there. Unfortunately, I believe this will be a rough year for us. I will be overjoyed if we win 9 games. We might struggle to be a .500 team. Win or lose, I will still love 'em. GBO.Well, we know why MI won. They cheated continuously.
Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country year in and year out.
There are 10 SEC teams in the AP Top 25.
There are 6 B1G teams.
So, yeah, "though in the B1G."
SEC: It just means more.
I believe the SEC had 7 to the B1G's 5 in the final AP poll last year.More isn't always better. The SEC has 10 teams in the pre-season Top 25. Some don't belong there. Will they be there at the end?
