Wow, I love being a UT fan, but we have got to have the most hateful and ungrateful fan base in the country. When we win in the 90's, it's just due to us having better players than those inferior teams (but somehow CPF gets no credit for getting those players here). But when parity sets into the SEC and college football in general, and it gets harder to get those kids from Georgia and Louisiana to not go to UGA and LSU. Then, we start losing some of those games that we were used to winning, it's all CPF's fault for not recruiting well enough AND being a "terrible" coach.
I was one of the people that wanted a change at UT. I thought that CPF had lost his competitive edge, just like many of you did. Maybe after Richt, Saban, and Tuberville got here, it became apparent that CPF couldn't keep up, but he played with the SEC in the 90's, and we won a National Championship with him at the helm. Some of you people make me wanna defend the guy, because I appreciate what he did for UT during his tenure here.
Why can't we just say that the man was a good coach. He had some good breaks, and he also took advantage of the opportunities presented to him during the beginning and middle of his time here. However, he trailed off, and couldn't keep up with the changing scene in the SEC during the 2000's.
