I've had mine for about 4-5 years. I have loved mine. Only downfall I have found is pulling my computer out on a car ride and trying to work on it with the kickstand. I had a buddy get the surface book and I really think that will be my next purchase since it fixes the one thing I have complaints about with my surface pro 3.

The surface books do look nice. Especially if you use it mostly as a laptop.

I have a surface book. It’s great. I love it.

No experience with the pro, but the book is easily the best laptop on the market imo.

I like it so much that I’m about to drop a ton of money on the desktop.

I have had a surface pro for years. I have a job that requires alot of work to he emailed and signed. Surface makes it simple because you can you the on screen pen. I sure others do the same, I just always used the surface.

I have a SP3 that I have had for years. It was the most premium config when I bought it. I have the docker station that allows me to connect to a 40" monitor here at my desk and at a moments notice, I can close it and take off on the road with it. Touch screen, so many things to love. Battery is no longer as good as it needs to be and cant be replaced, so that is an issue. When I get the funds, however, I am going to be buying the SP6.

It has also held up well to drops and many an outing. Its also the perfect size for the road. Big enough to get something real done but easy enough to travel with.

Not sure if you're a costco member or which model you're looking for exactly, but they have the sp6 with an i5 and 8gb of ram for $799. That includes the type cover and the surface pen also.

I got the 6 this Christmas and I love it. It was the keyboard cover bundle deal. I also grabbed a pen which was half off. The pen on it is like pen to paper.

Do you it mostly with the keyboard or in tablet mode?

Keyboard the vast majority of the time. I’ve played around with it in all modes. It’s so much easier for me with the keyboard vs the tablet keyboard, plus it acts as a cover as well.

However, when I flew cross country back home I used it as a table on the plane (way easier) to watch movies and was fantastic. It’s pretty versatile.

I like how the guy who maintains this site is the one with all the tech questions.. what are we paying this guy for?
Lol. I'm kind of a tech "freak" and like to hear about different people's opinions on different pieces of tech that they may have experience with. I've thought about just starting a tech thread in here that I can ramble on in. :)

With the surface pro, I just feel like I'm missing something. It doesn't feel quite as snappy as I think an i5 laptop should and the tablet mode feels a bit wonky to me. I really want to like it, though. And I think there are a lot of things to like about the Surface. It seems like a good product that gets a lot of positive feedback, so I'm trying to dig a bit deeper since my brief experience isn't in line with what I see from most people.

In full disclosure, I'm actually looking to update the hardware I use when I'm working on the go and I'm considering different options between macbook, windows laptop, ipad pro, surface, etc. I have used all of those devices extensively, except for the Surface.

I had every Surface up to the SP4. I made the jump over to the Lenovo Yoga 920 and havent looked back. I think I just had enough of M$ and the firmware updates that would break something. Last straw was when my docking station stopped working due to an update.

The one upgrade I would be sure to make is the 16gb of memory. 8gb just isnt enough for the many windows I have open. I would get the i7 if you are a power user and the i5 if you are a road warrior (I assume better battery life). the one area you could save is on hard drive space mine is 500gb and has long been sufficient but one could probably get by with even 256 and an sd card for the non system files..
