I really think that's more of a function of DoubleClick cookies and the like in your browser than actually pinpointing your IP address. You might be able to pinpoint something regionally, but unless your ISP is really small, it's more difficult to do.It usually gives it away. That's how some web sites will offer you COLLEGE GIRLS IN YOUR AREA WANT TO S. AND F. NOW!!!!!! and then have "Angela in Marietta" or whatever underneath.
There are ways around it, but for most of us with a cable or DSL connection you can tell where a user's located.
Unless the server is doing traceroutes back to the client IP, which is really too costly to do as far as the time it takes to assemble the information, it's pretty hard to isolate this junk from the IP alone.
If anybody else knows of a different way to do it, please enlighten me (seriously).
