Mississippi State was the best SEC school? Stop the sanctimonious ******** and yes if a kid is hitting passes below 50% on 75 attempts I think that is concerning. He played good for 1/2 against Georgia and shot against Mississippi State in the red zone. But it relevant to judge a kid on 75 pass attempts against the best sec schools????
Yea you got some smarts there
Then hb is no good he only completed 25% right??Mississippi State was the best SEC school? Fair enough, sorry if i came across as an ahole....i get tired of everyone downing BM because of being thrown into a crap situation his 1st real snaps.....UF.... of you took out UF and Chatt he was 50% the rest of the way and that even with a rough ky have after a concussion and 2 weeks of not playingI like Maurer from the 30 to the 30... he scares me in the red zone.
P.S. I would start Maurer before JG was allowed to touch a football.
Bailey also did that with hardly zero practice reps, a fractional fall camp, no spring, and a wacky summer... Maurer threw that last year with a normal practice model and a hell of a lot more time to practice.. you’re comparing apples and oranges so just stop. Then hb is no good he only completed 25% right??
It’s good. I wasn’t trying to down Maurer in the original context... I think he’s a lot more athletic than Aaron could ever be so I don’t get the comparison...Fair enough, sorry if i came across as an ahole....i get tired of everyone downing BM because of being thrown into a crap situation his 1st real snaps.....UF.... of you took out UF and Chatt he was 50% the rest of the way and that even with a rough ky have after a concussion and 2 weeks of not playing
He should be... even with some red zone struggles and youthful mistakes he moves the ball well. Hell, if you don’t trust him in the red zone like I don’t then let him get you to the 30-25 and rely Gray to punch it in or take a field goal the first game...He can play anytime Pruitt wants him to and no, Brian isn’t that disrespectful. There’s no truth to that
So given what you know about CJP practice reps and how he does his practices...its ok to give HB a pass because in his 10 snaps in camp he was "terrible"( cjp words) and CJP decided he wasn't worth the time...btwBailey also did that with hardly zero practice reps, a fractional fall camp, no spring, and a wacky summer... Im not getting defensive at all. I just like talking qbs. But I was referring to his playing style (running abilities excluded). If you watch Aaron and pay attention to Brian you’ll see what I mean. The reason I say watch his HS highlights is simply to see his throwing mechanics to compare to Aaron. They are almost mirrors of each other. But honestly, I wasn’t taking a shot at Maurer and you getting defensive over it makes it easy to goad... I don’t see Aaron Rodgers at all because Aaron can’t move like Maurer. Maurer resembles more of a rookie baker or young Russell.
There again, if they both had normal pre seasons as freshman I would bet Bailey would be a better passer. Bailey can be a better passer but Maurer can still be a more dynamic qb because Maurer can give you 40-60 yards scrambling to go along with his passing... me saying Bailey is a purer passer isn’t me saying that he is better than Maurer. So given what you know about CJP practice reps and how he does his practices...its ok to give HB a pass because in his 10 snaps in camp he was "terrible"( cjp words) and CJP decided he wasn't worth the time...btw
HB 1-4 24 yards vs KY
BM 3-6 for 46 yards vs FLA
Who had the a better opening SEC series??
See? I actually find that unfair but understandable criticism. Maurer had the team inside the red zone several times throughout his 4 starts. Vs UGA he never threw a pick in the red zone. Vs MSU he threw 2. Vs Alabama none. Vs UK none. So he’s got this bad rap in the red zone from one game? I feel like he was testing his limits and would’ve cleaned that up if he hadn’t had that nasty spill. I think that game gets out of hand by the third quarter if Maurer stays in.He should be... even with some red zone struggles and youthful mistakes he moves the ball well. Hell, if you don’t trust him in the red zone like I don’t then let him get you to the 30-25 and rely Gray to punch it in or take a field goal the first game...
Pruitt spoke at the podium before an evaluation had been determined. So he spoke too soon and people/reporters and fans took it literal. If he were concussed vs Miss St it’s only natural to think his injury was still there vs Alabama.
And you’re entitled to that opinion. I would just argue that many people had the same opinion of Aaron Rodgers as well and Brian’s playing style mirrors his.
