The one thing Florida has historically had with their mediocre teams and that we haven’t, is the ability to rise to level of their opponent and pull of a big win against a rival. Our record against our big three rivals the last 15 years show that we haven’t. I chalk that up to the inferior coaches we have had. Heupel is the first coach we have had in ages that seems to actual have the ability to give his players the mental fortitude and confidence to reverse that trend (I hope)Florida looks like the classic Tennessee 5 - 7 or 6 - 6 teams we have gotten used to since 2010. Lot's of deficiencies but good enough to beat the lesser talented teams and occasionally good enough to hang with one of the big boys for a half.
So, Tillman will start then!!!9000000000 people have said he’s a no go, insiders have said he’s a no go, the news has said he’s a no go, National pundits have said he’s a no go, our sports writers have said he’s a no go….
But people just refuse to listen and keep thinking he’s gonna play. He is OUT this week, and they hope to have him back close to 100% for LSU
You wouldn’t count Eastern Washington as an automatic win for Florida? Wow. That’s an extremely low opinion of Florida. And for as bad as UF looked against USF, Mizzou has been blown out by Kansas State and pillow fought with somebody named Abilene Christian.
I think the “awful lot of confidence” discretion should be aimed at those, like you, who think this Florida team is among the worst in the history of college football.
They not gonna guess anything. Do you really think FL is not practicing for Tillman?? Some people are Delusional! They will prepare for Tillman regardless if he plays or not.they won't make anything official until game time. gotta keep em guessing.
opinion based on what I've seen from some folks closer..
I'm really close to saying "if he can go let him play"I want to win this game. It builds momentum. But playing him with a bye next week greatly reduces his availability for those harder games. We don’t need him for this game. We need him for LSU, Alabama and Kentucky.
I agree. I love Tillman but it’s not like he’s all we’ve got. We can burn them with some of the others if Hooker is even semi on his game.I want to win this game. It builds momentum. But playing him with a bye next week greatly reduces his availability for those harder games. We don’t need him for this game. We need him for LSU, Alabama and Kentucky.
Hate to be the guy to tell you this. But Sampson got hurt last game. Doesn’t mean he won’t play but I expect small and him to be limited in Carrie’s this game. Especially since they were repping Princeton Fant at RB this weekI don't care what anyone says, we NEED him for this game.
Watch UF 's dline magically get their **** together this game and force us beat them throwing the ball.
The only game changing RB we have is Sampson who hasn't gotten near enough touches this year yet. Wright is a good dependable workhorse type back but nothing the game breaker that Sampson is.
If Tilman is out, why don't we make this Sampson's coming out party and design special sweep plays, screens and QB option pitches to him. You can bet Hyatt and Bru at wideout would both be double covered the entire game with no Tilman forcing another WR to step up.
Sampson is a TD waiting to happen everytime he touches it.
We just mostly like to attack people. Legitimate concerns or not.I competed in high level chess tournaments as a kid actually.
Why do a lot of you like to attack someone with legitimate concerns?
I'm nothing close to a negavol like you see to think. I'm just being realistic. We lost our best offensive player besides Hooker and Florida is in game 4 with a brand new head coach, already beat a ranked team and is loaded with 4 star talent.
Some of you are just delusional and too easily threatened. Any rational person should be a little concerned.
Is Small out at RB or have we heard?Tillman is the guy Hooker goes to on 3rd down, when a play is needed, when he is pressured, etc. It's a big loss. The young guys have not seen press coverage like they will see in this game and they will have to be physical enough to beat it. Another concern is why is McCoy not getting more targets? Also, while Hyatt is getting catches, he hasn't been as physical after the catch as Velus Jones was.
The Vols have to produce more in the running game than they did against Pitt in order to win this game. Wright has shown a lot more ability than Smalls but he also has shown a propensity to fumble. Sampson has not played in a game like this. It would be difficult to depend on him to carry the bulk of the load on Saturday. The RB will need to be able to break a tackle or make someone miss and they haven't shown a great ability to do this so far.
Gators' offense has sputtered some but also made plays when needed. With the schedule the Vols have played, it's hard to know what this defense is really capable of. However, it appears as if the Gators' strengths kinda play into the Vols weaknesses. Banks normally has a good scheme to disguise some things, so this should be a wash.
Special teams may make the difference and that's not a comfort. Ekkler better have his chili hot this weekend and avoid turnovers, blocked kicks and other mental breakdowns.
Vols should win because it's at Neyland but it will be a fight to the finish.
Ainge on sports animal just brought up a good point. It may not be because he can’t go it may be because he is very slow for a WR already and if he’s even slightly hobbled you would slow him down to the point he’s totally ineffective.
I think he’s healthy and okay but just might be slightly gimpy and Heupel doesn’t want him to play.
