I have an employee who worked for me as a civilian and he got a job opportunity at Stanford as an intern. I advised that he take the internship over his current job. (He is a temp employee that gets his contract renewed every year)
He turned in his resignation and two week notice last Friday. Yesterday (Monday) he was given a 'letter of termination' and told to leave that day. I have had multiple dealings with our HR and they assured me this was normal, but it looks shady and I don't want this kid to get screwed out of ever getting a government job or having something look bad on his resume.
