My point is that the Dems have admitted that they caused the shutdown. That's a fact and not subject to opinion pollsSeems the majority of Americans blame Republicans for the current government shutdown. Hell even Fox News their polls show that most people blame Republicans. So your opinion is in a minority.
### Public Opinion on Blame for the 2025 Government Shutdown
As of November 6, 2025, the ongoing U.S. federal government shutdown—triggered by disputes over spending cuts and debt ceiling negotiations—has prompted several polls on public attribution of responsibility. While partisan divides are stark (Democrats overwhelmingly blame Republicans, and vice versa), overall figures show a majority of Americans pointing to Republicans, largely due to perceptions of House GOP leadership's role in blocking bipartisan deals.
#### Key Poll Findings
| Pollster | Date Conducted | Sample Size | % Blaming Republicans | % Blaming Democrats | % Blaming Both/Neither | Notes |
|----------|----------------|-------------|-----------------------|---------------------|------------------------|-------|
| **Quinnipiac University** | Oct 31–Nov 3, 2025 | 1,523 adults (national) | 54% | 38% | 8% | Likely voters; 62% of independents blame GOP. Margin of error: ±2.5%. |
| **Reuters/Ipsos** | Nov 2–4, 2025 | 1,002 adults (national) | 51% | 42% | 7% | Focus on "primary responsibility"; higher blame on Republicans among women (58%) and urban residents. Margin of error: ±3.3%. |
| **Pew Research Center** | Oct 28–Nov 2, 2025 | 1,501 adults (national) | 49% | 40% | 11% | Includes breakdowns by party: 85% of Dems blame GOP, 78% of GOP blame Dems. Margin of error: ±2.8%. |
| **Fox News** | Nov 1–3, 2025 | 1,009 registered voters | 47% | 44% | 9% | Closer split, with GOP base less likely to self-blame. Margin of error: ±3.0%. |
#### Analysis
- **Average Across Polls**: Approximately **50%** of Americans blame Republicans, compared to 41% for Democrats. This reflects broader frustration with Republican demands for deeper cuts amid economic pressures.
- **Trends**: Blame on Republicans has ticked up 3–5 points since late October, correlating with media coverage of failed Speaker negotiations. Independents (key swing group) lean 55–60% toward GOP fault.
- **Context**: The shutdown, now in its 10th day, affects 800,000 federal workers. Historical parallels (e.g., 2018–19 shutdown) show similar initial blame patterns shifting with duration.
These figures are from reputable, nonpartisan sources and represent snapshots—public sentiment can evolve quickly. For the latest, check sites like RealClearPolitics or FiveThirtyEight aggregates. If you need breakdowns by demographics or state-level data, let me know.
Let's not pettifog the issue here. We're talking about Covid subsidies. Tariffs are covered in other threads and have nothing to do with thisI've got a digress here.
When you say "temporary emergencies" shouldn't result in government action, would that also apply to permanent tariffs?
Otherwise, I think I agree.
No! If it cannot pass on it's own merits, then it should not pass. Every thing should be voted on for its own merits. D#$% pork add ons is a large part of what has got us in a financial mess to begin with. The way the ACA is being proposed now on re-opening the government is just plain extortion and nothing else.So then... The solution is TO FUND THE ACA until we have a better solution.
Agreed?
You are FOS. She said it's the only leverage we have meaning the shutdown. Get a clue. The Dems own this shutdown just like the Rs did when they were in the minority. Sorry for the inconvenient truth. You're full of **** dude.
That Democrat claiming "one of the few leverage times we have" does not - in any way shape or form - equate to her taking responsibility for the shutdown. Give me a f****** break.
Speaking of morons, here's what the Orange Menace once said:
Trump made similar points during the near-shutdown in April 2011, when a budget deal was reached at the last minute. In an NBC Today interview on April 7, 2011, he said, "If there is a shutdown, I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the president of the United States," again placing responsibility on Obama.
Um no. The Ds own this one. They admitted it many times over. Deal with it.The truth is blatantly obvious to anybody with two eyes. Donald Trump hates obamacare. Privileged Republicans also hate the fact that we have a socialist program that allows people to have basic health care.
The current shutdown exists virtually solely because the Republicans are trying to kneecap obamacare. You know it's true. I know it's true. Unless you are just trying to deny reality.
You may not like Obamacare but I do and the majority of Americans do. Sadly for you, in our Democratic Republic majority rules. So I'm happy that the Democrats are going to force Trump in the rest of his goons to fund obamacare.
Fire everyone THEN put them in prison. Open Trump Supermax and just fill it with feds.I would say that is the biggest issue Trump had, he should have firing and locking people up in the government in his first term. He didn't realize that saying he would drain the swamp, he needed to actually drain the swamp.
Majority of Americans?? Quick let me show you a red blue map that shows a "what if land could vote" imaginary world MAGA lives in!The truth is blatantly obvious to anybody with two eyes. Donald Trump hates obamacare. Privileged Republicans also hate the fact that we have a socialist program that allows people to have basic health care.

So who went to the big strip show contest in Chattanooga with the $500 grocery grand prize, aside from all of our moms competing?
I don't think so. He seems very very sleepy lately
