Another Government Shutdown Thread

Don't care. They choose to work for the government.

With that said, I think it is a violation of the employees and service members to demand labor without compensation. Would be very simple to make sure they remain paid and prevent them from functioning as political pawns.

Those that continued to work will get their pay, IDK for sure but they might even get interest on what was delayed. Heck I bet even the ones that aren't working get back pay.

That doesn't matter. Very few people are prepared to float themselves for an indefinite amount of time while their employer demands labor without compensation paid timely. You and I cannot do that in our businesses. It's garbage.

I completely agree, if I was an "essential" government employee my last day would be when the paycheck didn't arrive. I'd come down with a severe case of f^ckUistis.

You would be wrong. They didn't have the votes. Manchin and Sinema did not want it
isn't that the same thing here, there are enough Rs where they could end the filibuster, but enough don't want to.

back then there were enough Ds where they COULD have ended the filibuster, but enough didn't want to.

whats the difference?

4% reduction in all flights at the top 40 airports starting tomorrow. Ramps up to 10% by next week. 4k to 5k a day being canceled.

Good, safety first.

I doubt it happens but maybe this will be the catalyst that forces a modernization in the ATC system.
Modernization has been going on Since Obamas term. Modernization doesn't replace asses in seats vectoring aircraft or talking to pilots, which you still need. All Modernization is just updating what we already use. Go from a 486 Pentium to windows 10 compjter, etc. The big push is to get off copper and on fiber. Something Trumps FCC started and never finished.

I think AI could take a lot of those asses out of those seats.

First of all I never stated that Dems had the votes to nuke the filibuster. As for now, I'm not aware of any Republicans in the Senate coming out in support of nuking the filibuster. 4 years ago all the Dems except for Sinema and Manchin were in favor of it

Farm it out to India.

At cruising altitude..maybe. I would only want AI involved in predicting efficient routes. AI controlling general aviation wouldn't be wise.
Efficient routes?

Modernization has been going on since Wilbur and Orvil. The big push is to get off voice and onto data, but the USA and South America are woefully behind. Maybe if we didn't have so many invaders to feed......

Trump initiated the copper to fiber swap then fumbled the ball. Then he blamed Gay Pete for it, while showing he has zero understanding of what copper to fiber (glass) means.

What about efficient routes are you asking about?

“I mean, shutdowns are terrible and of course there will be, you know, families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously. But it is one of the few leverage times we have,”
Democrat Minority Whip Katherine Clark

Here's the video

You're full of **** dude.

That Democrat claiming "one of the few leverage times we have" does not - in any way shape or form - equate to her taking responsibility for the shutdown. Give me a f****** break.

Speaking of morons, here's what the Orange Menace once said:

Trump made similar points during the near-shutdown in April 2011, when a budget deal was reached at the last minute. In an NBC Today interview on April 7, 2011, he said, "If there is a shutdown, I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the president of the United States," again placing responsibility on Obama.
