Another Active Shooter

So when Obama attempts to confiscate guns, what will happen? Will people stand up and fight, or will they roll over? And yes, he is going to make an attempt to come for guns.

They can have the one I have registered. They dont know about the others.

Oops! Just kidding NSA!

Left wing attacks? I must have missed something. Since when have there been left-wing political groups attacking people in Chicago?

You usually do miss things. For instance, I never referenced political groups. These are individual acts. One nut job in Colorado conducts a deplorable attack of murderous violence, and the event is almost instantly politicized as a right wing attack. Hundreds of nut jobs annually murder innocent citizens in a city which supported the left wing candidate for president in 2012 by a margin of 84% - 15%. If one can be politicized, why can't the other?

The problem is still with Jihadist and right wing extremist. A terrorist attack is terrible regardless of who the attacker is. The jihadist have killed more people on American soil and definitely worldwide than right wing nuts over a longer period. That does not make those killed by the right wing groups less dead.

This latest shooting on Colorado was a terrible act. If the shooter had been an Islamic Extremist the talk and news reports about it would be 100% different than they are now. Because the shooter is a home grown white guy, most Americans look at it differently. It is still an act of terrorism.

While the Islamic Extremist are a much larger problem we also have a problem in the United States with the right wing extremist groups. Since 9/11 we have had 20 documented Right Wing attacks on US Soil killing 51 (including 3 dead in this latest shooting). During the same amount of time we have had 7 jihadist attacks on US Soil killing 26. Both groups are deadly.

These numbers came from below linked article and I added the latest shooting to it.

Homegrown Extremism: Deadly Attacks Since 9/11 | The International Security Program

What happens if you adjust those numbers to reflect the individuals actual representation in society?

26 deaths by a group representing less than 1% of the population..and 51 by a group representing 70%.

So muslim terror deaths in the USA representative of their population at a liberal 12 million is about 0.0002%. <-- that is that magic number left wingers toss out to show islam terror is just an "anomaly" in the US..

Right wing terror deaths representative of their population is about 0.00002%..

So still..better chance at getting killed by a muslim than a right winger type.

Thats where I got my numbers from.

Here in Orlando more pedestrians are killed by cars driven by non English speakers in a year than right wing terror group killings in 15 years.

Ban..cars?

Well bless your heart, at least you have a vivid imagination.

I think the point is that while some of the "right-wingers" may do horrible things, they shouldn't all be judged by the actions of those who bastardize the core beliefs of the conservative side. Kind of like how we shouldn't assume every Muslim child is going to grow up and fly a plane into a building and not all "lefties" want to take your guns.

Right wing extremist represents 70% of the population?

You are a funny, funny man 79.

Well since the shooter is not a right wing extremist, how do we label him?

Crazy? Works for me.

No, white people represent 70%, or like 68%.

So take your white supremacists in relation to the overall population or white people. Most likely they will commit more crimes, but relevant to their population its not that much. Now take the muslims and compare their crimes relative to their population. Again it isnt that much but when compared to how many of them there are they are more likely to commit an act of terror.

Pet dogs and bees have killed more than any terror group in the US..probably time to start talking about pet/pest control.

Are you making these excuses for the right wing extremist simply because a very, very tiny group of people in the right wing are extremist and do these type of acts will reflect bad on the Republican party?

I certainly do not. While their political leaning will side with the Republicans, I do not call them Republicans, I call them NUTS.

So we are comparing a religion to a race? Not all Americans of Middle Eastern decent are Muslim and not all white Americans are Christian or right-wingers. A January Galup poll suggested that 38% of Americans (of all colors) identified as conservative and 24% identified as liberal.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to cut that 70% of white people down to the 38% all Americans who are more aligned with "right-wing" ideology?

Nope.

Means he's crazy.

I've seen reports calling him a " Christian Terrorist".

You and I both know, that's not possible.

I agree he is crazy. Being registered as a Republican is not a requirement to be a right wing extremist. Some states such as Tennessee one is not required to register with party affiliation.

Obviously. I mean you drive from NC to Colorado with a sks.. wait I mean "ak-47" styled weapon (gotta drive up the fear factor!!) and with no real plan just start popping shots off in a parking lot, go into an abortion clinic and use it as a HQ and shoot out of it? Weird.

Way easier ways to commit terror against lefties..just buy up all the Smirnoff Ice in town..that will be end times for em

What makes him right wing?

You could do it that way. The numbers still show muslims as being more dangerous.

Maybe if you broke it down to avowed white supremacist the numbers would change.
