Andrew Butcher taking medical exemption

I'm not sure. His dad posted on volquest a little bit ago and said he's had several bone and cartilage surgeries which suggest patellafemoral injures but it could be anything. The anatomy of the knee Is very complex and a bunch of injuries don't show up on any kind of scan, they only be diagnosed by a skilled orthopedic surgeon (dial test, lachman test, pivot shift reverse, etc. )

He is definitely doing the right thing by giving up football. It sounds like that after 4 surgeries, he could be dealing with Osteoarthritis in 20-30 years as it is.

Good luck to Andrew on his future.

Best of luck to Mr. Butcher. Disappointing for him for sure. Still getting a great education, and at least now he won't have to put up with a bunch of "fans" calling him a bust.

I love how positive he is about the university and the program despite his challenges. It says a lot about the university and the program and we all could take something positive from that despite the fahr Butch and the Negavol crowd.

His ability to form a family-like bond with his players is a huge reason for me wanting to see him succeed! CBJ seems to look after his players as though they really are his own children!

Sounds like a great guy with a good head on his shoulders. Hate to see it end this way.

We all hate to see this happen. However, this may not be the last we hear of Andrew Butcher. He just might have the makings of one helluva coach. Just depends on what he wants to do.

Tore my ACL after landing wrong on a bike jump. Elected to go without surgery. It took 4.5 years of grueling rehab. to get it back. But now is 100% thank goodness.

There are times I wish I didn't have surgery. It's an awful awful surgery.

Injuries are the worst. Hate hate hate it

Part of game and part of many games. I never played football but years of playing city softball and basketball ruined my knees. Have had surgeries on both knees. Now at my age looking at replacements in the future, nearer future than I care about.

Also broke my hip in 2009 in a fall. Now I've developed avascular necrosis in that hip and it will have to be replaced at some point..

Riding them out until pain becomes too much before time to do the work..

Hate to read that. Hope you can hang in there without pain as they continue improve the surgical options.

Not too bad right now. As long as not cart path only I try to golf 3 days a week. Extended walking causes knees to swell and not feel well for several days. Just came off a cruise and left was swollen for a week or so from the walking. Last couple days much better.

Part of getting older..

Thank you.

I feel for you brother. Sports injuries especially to ligaments or muscles are the worst thing in this world. I honestly don't know how professional athletes come back from these type of surgeries better than ever.

Cadaver ligaments and legal steroids, etc. plus the best doctors and rehab specialists in the business.
