And Tony V is officially gone.

I didn’t say baseball is going down the tube. And even if it does I’m still watching. My issue with Danny is that I’ve long resented how he’s diverted funds away from football to subsidize the women and now he’s done it to baseball. (Been doing it) It’s inexcusable that he didn’t keep Jacobe Thomas this past season. I’d much rather pay him than the useless girls team
Is the AD not required by title ix to divert money from revenue generating sports to fund women’s sports?

Good coaches have egos and Tony wants to see if he can cut in the majors I guess. Otherwise he would stay. Don’t think money was going to keep him just like it didn’t keep Saban at LSU. Question is where does he land in 2-3 years if he falls on his face?

Also, if there was ever a time for UT to be able to attract a great baseball coach it is right now! So let’s see what happens

I think everybody needs to chill a little. Nobody here knows what went on behind the scenes and what were the major factors in TV leaving. Someone with decent connections said it was nothing negative with UT, but simply his life long desire to coach in the big leagues. Also, let's see how well the team does moving forward before we assume the baseball program is automatically going down the tubes now.
Agreed. The fact he seemed torn between leaving or staying tells me he was happy at Tennessee. I'd imagine 95-98% of younger college baseball coaches, if given the opportunity to be an MLB manager, would jump at the chance.

Screw Danny White. That bastard just killed our Baseball program for women’s basketball. Unbelievable
It wasn't the main reason. Yeah, there were tensions there..... but it was more of the landscape of the NIL in college baseball and how the players want big money before they accomplish anything. But there were tensions there. Also, Elander hasnt even been approached about taking the job, at least not as of 11 last night. Thats stunning to me! Danny has known this was a big possibility for a week now. He really thought Tony was gonna stay, but that didnt happen. We will keep most of our recruits and players if they let Elander have it.

lol you’re in delusional land.

Okay when Texas A&M came calling with a huge contract, who was it that made Tony V the highest paid coach in the country? ITS AN MLB FRANCHISE. It’s not like he’s going to Arkansas or some ****. Lmfao
Some people are delusional, spoiled, entitled brats who constantly bitch & whine about everything & pitch their little fits when they don’t get what they want.

I'm sure it was his dream, but his personality doesn't fit in SF. I don't think he's there long.

who knows what is rumor and what is truth about who gets how much money, but i do know this, danny white is now hitched to kim caldwell in the eyes of a lot of Vol fans. and if she does produce a national championship within 4-5 years, that group will be looking to run her out of town and danny white with her because they will look at it as he sacraficed tony vitello to appease the womens supporters which is about two rungs below the baseball team in their eyes and he has been taking care of "His Hire" over a coach he inherited. maybe its fair and maybe its not, but danny white is in a more precarious situation in the eyes of a large number of fans who support the baseball team than he was a few weeks ago. He better pray that the football team tightens up their ship to get people talking about something else pretty quick

You are either a Vol, or you’re not.

I’m all Vol. Can’t wait to find out who my next Coach will be. The last guy? Means about as much to me as Kiffen.

Oh come on. He didn’t leave to coach at Alabama he left for a MLB job. He resurrected our baseball program and brought home a natty. Yeah it’s disappointing, but to be angry at the guy himself isn’t the right way to go about it.

i talked to a buddy who lives in arkansas, and the people around there believe that if tony goes to the giants, he will be arkansas's coach in three years or less

They’re delusional. Tony isn’t coming back to the college game. If things don’t work out in San Francisco he will get a position coach job with another MLB team and try his luck again.

We got Kiffin’d. Only thing making this different is that the AD may have muddled this one up.

I’m not angry at him, I just already moved on from him and will support the next coach.

I wouldn’t have warm feelings for my wife if she left for a richer, better looking man.

(As if that guy existed.)

Haha made me laugh. I don’t think it’s even comparable to the Kiffin situation though. Hopefully they make the right hire.

Yeah. I truly hope this is about mlb opportunity for Tony, and not revenue/nil, because Elander, or whoever it would be, would know about revenue and nil, and may not want to compete with less budget than the best in the league have to offer.

If TN let Tony go, just to then up the player budget, then AD DW is a clown.

Time will tell.

This is absolutely what frosts me... TV's gonna have to be beyond good in order to stay there longer than 3 years. If it tanks hard DW will still be here, TV will get offered a job by another SEC school, and he's going to come back every year to whip TN.

Tony was making 3 mill a year, that's a good living if your happy with your job. He apparently wasn't happy so he left, end of story I guess.
That's not true. He was very happy and loved Knoxville. The rev allocation being at, or above the top dogs in the SEC was an issue, and it was an incredible opportunity. I wish him well. He built TN baseball. He was (by far) the most transformative TN hire since Neyland. It sucks we only had him for a short time. Hopefully we can keep it going.
