And Tony V is officially gone.

No one asked the question, "Did you offer him more money"? Talked with him one time in five days.......is this true??? Tony V is the Nick Saban of baseball. Good Lord. Make an effort to keep him.
That’s the other side of this coin. Danny sounded rehearsed in the presser and there’s way too much smoke. I’ve heard it from people I normally don’t hear anything from. Danny was indifferent. He even said in the presser he doesn’t have relationships with assistants? WTF says that? Of course white doesn’t see it that way. He’s corporate as ****. Yes, we will win in every sport, but baseball will suffer. UT will suffer because it cannot replace what and who Tony is.

I just don’t think a lot of people understand what makes Tony tick. I don’t think most people really know what we’ve lost. If they did, they have gotten their ass down to LNS yesterday. Those porches should have been packed. You leave for what has been reported as a “significant” pay cut. I kept telling people in here that I couldn’t see him making more than $2 million.

Just plain ignorant. And you’re ignorant for claiming 3 major sports. Women’s basketball has always been and will always be a bigger deal than college baseball. Sorry bud
That's simply not true. Baseball as a sport is going to be on a huge upswing for the foreseeable future. College baseball is becoming increasingly important and is no longer the tertiary sport it once was. It's on the same level as college basketball these days in terms of importance. Tony V made this the most visible and discussed college program in the country. There's nothing women's basketball can ever do to match that.

Baseball is WAY WAY more important any women's sport and will only be more important moving forward. DW needed to make any possible concession to please TV.

Hold on now. I agree that college baseball has more room for growth, because it used to be really hard to watch, like you couldn’t watch anything but the CWS and who cares. Football and Basketball (both) have been selling out Neyland and TBA for a long time.

I’ve been arguing this for at least a decade, the question was expansion of the sport, there’s a reason to invest in it because ESPN says so. Pitting one sport against each other as “most important” is silly. Football is the front porch and Pat built a monster and they wouldn’t give the BaseVols new digs if they weren’t sooooooo atrociously behind the times of other SEC teams. CTV made it happen.

There’s enough money to go around in college sports these days, enough for all the teams to be successful.

Screw Danny White. That bastard just killed our Baseball program for women’s basketball. Unbelievable
Anybody out there ever been around a person that just has to blame someone for a bad event, even if requires latching onto something without any proof or just fabricating some far fetched idea if needed?

Sports Illustrated reporting Tony will be making less money with the Giants than he did at UT. Doesn't matter whom you get to replace him. We will never accomplish year in and year out with what he did. The best coach of any sport here. We had Nick Saban for baseball and didn't try to keep him. That's what has me bummed out with all of UT sports now. Too much money going into football with what little results we get every year. I finally realized all the football hoopla to build the fans up only to not get halfway up the mountain and gave up my season tickets.

Everyone loves their daughter. But past that it’s pretty simple. Would you pump money into something that wasn’t making the money?
You do understand both programs lost millions last year? Baseball has NEVER made a profit and the LV program has. If they return back to making finals and winning nattys they might get back to that point, while baseball WAS at that point and still lost 2.3 million compared to 2.5 loss. Some people are obtuse to the fact there are literally facts out there that show a different story!

It's much a bigger cut than just the nominal salary when you factor in California taxes and cost of living. It only points to there being irreconcilable differences with the athletic department.

You are a moron, proven for the fact that baseball is not more important than women’s basketball except to you and a few others on here. The numbers though DON’T bear that out. Womens great 8 games has more TV viewers than the men’s CWS. Also LV are on upswing and they lost 2.5 million last year compared to revenue, while baseball LOST 2.33 million WHILE at the top of the so called mnt. In the end of the day, baseball is a boring sport, TV made it a little less, but in the end the ratings don’t suggest that baseball is overtaking women’s basketball. On top of that TV can be replaced and will be, this team will still be rolling along if the right hire is made, but yet we had how many AD’s in the last 25-20 years and every single one of them until now has been a complete moron! You need to go take your meds and sit down, maybe your mom or wife need to take your phone away.
The only people who think baseball is a boring sport are people with either a low attention span or incapable of understanding nuance.

Y'all should be happy for Tony and our program. He won the CWS and put Tennessee on the map for baseball, and now he wants his shot at the big league. You can't begrudge the man for that. More power to him and hope he kicks some ass.

I couldn’t agree more. This is the show. The best baseball league on the planet. And he gets one of only 32 seats at the table.

On the flipside, and as you point out, he did amazing things at UT and brought our first natty.

How can anyone not say “thank you and good luck.”

Which begs the question, which is making more money (profit), LV basketball or baseball? I think Kim is only making about $250,000.
I’d put Tony’s NIL value around $20 million. I’d put Caldwell at around $1 million, and that’s being generous. Tony affected every facet of UT. He was a contagion of excellence. He was literally the face of college baseball. Not simply thr face of UT baseball. The face of college baseball. The amount of people that miss this is alarming. There are some people with their heads so far up their ass it isn’t funny.

And baseball was just really getting ready to explode. Our POS stadium never afforded the opportunity to make money. Now with sky boxes and porches and actual premium seating, the real revenue was going to flow.

And this is the real point. Women’s basketball has virtually no overhead. They get a massive arena and a practice facility Ray men’s basketball bought and paid for. No one mentions that. Imagine if women’s basketball had to fund that themselves? It wooden be a financial disaster.

Bs Pat's teams put asses In seats winning 8 titles and a sh1t load of SEC championships. UT men's bb didn't pay for TBA football and women's BB did that. It will get back to that as well when we get back to those things just like the men's

Believe it or not I’m not usually one to get mad at coaches or AD’s. I don’t like wasting NIL on girls sports that most of us don’t watch or watch seriously
