Amateur Hour Continues

I think the whole media bias card is WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY overplayed. It's the right-wing's version of the race card. It is largely a creation of the right wing media.
Dole, Romney, Bush 1, Bush 2, McCain et al would never claim media bias to the degree the right-wing attempts to assign. They would acknowledge what everyone knows (that the media leans left) but would all say they got a pretty fair shake and that it wasn't that much different than the way dems are generally treated.
Trying to tell right wingers that the media bias card is grossly overplayed is like repubs trying to tell lefties that the race card is grossly overplayed. Falls mostly on deaf ears regardless the degree of truth.
Doesn't surprise me at all you feel this way.

Compared to Trump? Mayor Pete is Audie Murphy.

I agree. but of the two, democrats are way ahead.

This is such a myopic and distorted view of recent history.
Maybe 5% of the population was tired of the uppity guy.
But the conservatives loved Herman Cain. This isnt the 1960s. The old die hard racists are dying off everyday.
Yall need to look deeper than the default of racism if you really want to compete for the minds of the moderates.

The Luthers of the left think they are way ahead. The fact is they are so far behind in understanding what the rest of the country thinks and wants, it is unbelievable. They ought to listen instead of preaching for a while; it's just possible they might learn something. The biggest problems with liberals - other than what they stand for - is that they see virtually anything they haven't corrupted as a problem ... and only libs have answers to problems.

I don't want to paint with a broad brush. But I agree with your premise. The ideas of "way ahead" sound suspiciously like the ideas which were proven wrong decades ago. Also, no one is DC is serious about grand new visions. Everyone is very comfy doing little and bloviating much.

Perhaps I should have read the entire thread before posting my reply. However, it does appear you aren't telling the whole truth of the matter.

Now, when you find concrete evidence Trump himself ordered it covered, I'll listen.

According to this story,

White House Won't Fire Staffer Who Asked Navy to Hide USS McCain: Mulvaney

the request came from a member of the advance team. Trump had nothing to do with it. Of course, the Dim spin will be that the WH simply found a suitable fall guy or girl ... at least that's how any "honest" Dim would play it, so it sounds good.

Of course they would say that, they were weak and soft b*****s. They didn’t come close to getting a fair shake you hack

I am not.

So he wrote this oped last week for Firstthings.com which has sparked considerable response from moderate conservatives. I read it to basically be an argument that liberals are engaged in a culture war against judeo-Christians in which tolerant conservatives have, for too long, been giving inches, from which miles are taken.

The answer, he says, is to stop being polite, stop being reasonable, stop being tolerant, stop using reasoned argument, and just oppose unwanted cultures at every junction, using whatever tool or weapon at your disposal. This would include trolling, I assume.

Seems like a Trojan horse, to me, as it effectively kills any claim that the resultant ideology is grounded in judeo-Christian philosophy, IMO, but it seems to be a line of demarcation among conservatives and which side of the line you fall on seems to be a good indicator of whether you’re for or against Trump.

You are comparing bad media that lies to the public to drum up clicks for ad revenue (proven on a consistent basis btw) to..... people calling others racist when they have a difference of opinion (cant find an argument that supports your feels).

Then you imply that calling either one of those out is not acceptable due to it happening frequently (overplayed). What would frequency matter if you actually believed an idea?

Thats your game in a nutshell Luther.
You have no common sense and you have no facts to back up your emotional feelings.

All you know is to try and change the narrative when you are getting closed in by a good argument that doesnt fit your feelings.

you have an overwhelming need to follow your herd so that you can be a part of the current groupthink of the sheep.

Thanks for the synopsis.
Here's hoping that enough conservatives find the correct side of the line.

Give me a break. As an analysis that gets a D-.
I'm saying the overuse and misuse of the bias card is like the overuse and misuse of the race card.

I have my doubts that Trump didn't know about this request... but for the sake of argument, let's work under the assumption that this is the truth, and "a member of the advance team" made this request to the Navy's Seventh Fleet. Why would they have made such a request in the first place, do you suppose? It was likely done because this staffer thought that this is what President Trump would have wanted done, because Trump is sensitive to seeing the name "John McCain" - even though the man has been dead for 9 months now. At the very least, you have a staffer who thought they were serving the President well by going to the lengths of covering up the name of a deceased person on a ship. This shows you both what Trump's staff thinks of him (that he is very petty and sensitive) and what extremes they are willing to go to in order to protect his feelings and enable his pettiness.

Try as you might, there is not a positive spin for this. It was a ridiculous request and only made worse by Mulvaney's attempt to suggest that it wasn't inappropriate or unreasonable and Trump for sympathising with it.

One is based in facts and can be proven (successfully)

The other is based in feelings and cant be proven (except under pretty extreme and very rare circumstances)

So the overuse and misuse are in no way alike. That is a feeling you are having Luther, not a rational thought.
