Amateur Hour Continues

When is alcoholism contracted and what medical procedures treat it?

Abstinence and “talking” about it are not medical treatments.
Alcoholism can be contracted with one simple drink. There are also genetic factors that have to be considered. Same thing with cocaine and sugar. Addictions are mot weaknesses.

So just because there arent any physical medical procedures to treat it means its not an illness? If thats your stance then you are just as wrong
So you think therapy is not a legit form of medical treatment?
It's obvious that I'm just missing critical thinking skills because I'm taking the word of the professionals. Sigh....Red hat logic.

The first step in recovery is recognizing you have a problem.
Why is there a recovery program for choices?

I view alcoholism as an addiction. Not a disease.

Cirrhosis of the liver is a disease. Often resulting from the alcoholism addiction.

I don’t downplay the serious nature of alcoholism. It’s a destroyer and I’ve seen it up close. However I do think calling it a disease is mislabeling and to an extent de-emphasizes the personal responsibility aspect.

Merriam-Webster:

Disease - a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms

What exactly does “alcoholism” (not the results of overuse, i.e. cancer, cirrhosis, etc.) manifest in its host? A disease, in its simplest, non-convoluted meaning, is parasitic, bacterial, fungal, carcinogenic or otherwise volatile in nature. Choices and habits aren’t diseases.

Your opinion is noted. The medical community disagrees with you. You can continue to believe that your opinion is somehow superior to trained professionals all you want. But it doesnt change facts.

Yeah no way the medical community would classify something a disease for profit. Oh wait now it’s a disease insurance will pay for treatment. Go figure.

Watch the video. Truly stunning 180 from Jeff Sessions. And remember this was over Clinton lying about giving Lewinsky a pearl necklace. And sessions totally flubbed the Kant quote.

So you're too stupid to recognize stupid? Somehow I'm not surprised.
