Send their asses back where they came from and don’t reward their very first act in their new country of breaking their laws. Make them respect our laws and abide accordingly and they are welcome. How do you not understand this?

Regardless of how they got there kudos to both groups for acting professional, deescalating, and entering discussion to prevent further encounters like that from happening in the future.

Perhaps the Mexican military should invest in some GPS handheld receivers? I’m sure they could get some from confiscated assets of drug interdiction?

It happened once but I agree that both sides deserve kudos for professional behavior in what was likely a tense situation. My issue is those guys could resolve it yet or president threatens military action on Twitter.

I would like to be a fly on the wall when they were debriefed by their commanders on why they were disarmed on US soil by foreign federal troops.

We can look at that and be glad nobody got hurt, which I truly am. But my guess is one or more guardsmen have a new anal orifice. And going forward I would expect escalation as I’d guess our troops will be armed and unwilling to comply with disarmament demands.

It's happened more than once and no the Mexican army did not act in a professional manner. A professional would have never illegally crossed our border.

If they didn't know that they had crossed our border then they absolutely were not acting in a professional manner. Nothing on their part was professional.

I’d say not knowing where the hell you are with regards to the local sovereign boundary you’re supposed to be protecting is pretty damn negligent and unprofessional. I am quite pleased though they had the presence of mind to access the situation and withdraw rather than take our guys into custody... after illegally crossing into our soil, intent be damned.

Going forward I expect encounters like this to not end so amicably. And I’d guess our guys got chewed on pretty hard for being disarmed on their own soil by what amounted to an illegal entry by foreign soldiers under arms. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have done it too. But I’d guess they have new holes in their butts.
