Amateur Hour Continues

Prior to a 1984 radio broadcast, Ronald Reagan was asked to speak into the microphone for a sound check. Joking, he said, “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” A recording of his statement was leaked, and Soviet forces were briefly put on alert

That one is actually funny in way.

In 1998 testimony before a grand jury, Bill Clinton was questioned about his improper relationship with White House aide Monica Lewinsky. In defending as truthful his statement that “there’s nothing going on between us,” he responded, “It depends on what the meaning of the word is is. If the — if he — if is means ‘is and never has been,’ that is not — that is one thing. If it means ‘there is none,’ that was a completely true statement. … Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.”

And?

If you're gonna b!tch every time he speaks, wouldn't it save you the hassle?

No that’s part of their schtick. They don’t really want him to be quiet. And now lawgator types “President Dennison” to add to the schtick in referencing his communications. I’ll bet he giggles so hard every time he types Dennison he pees himself too.

So you b!tch and moan when he says something stupid. But yet, b!tch and moan because he doesn't hold more PCs.

Im still not sure what that has to do with Obama reading a prepared statement to prevent him from stepping on his wang more often, but ok.

Oh, I'd love it if he opened his yapper more often. But he's smart enough to know--or at least his handlers are--that if you're in a hole, stop digging. And his mouth has gotten him into a lot of holes (no Stormy Daniels pun intended).

This scandal may be a little more concerning to him. He's typically loud and brash about fake news, lying women etc. He's a little too quiet on this one.

I’d be quiet too if I had to look my wife in the eye every evening. All legal arguments aside.

Slick Willy. And he wasn't wrong on that subtle point, but I have never heard anyone debate the meaning of the word is.

"Is" can be used for predication or to express identity, so it is potentially ambiguous, but Clinton was just talking about tense if I recall. Namely, he said "no" in response to the question "Is there anything going on between you and Lewinsky" because at the time he answered the question there was nothing going on between him and Lewinsky.

Trump doesn't seem to mind pissing off anyone and everyone. You know he has a solid prenup in place. It's not like he hasn't been down this path before.

Besides, I'd love to see a single president with a steady stream of porn stars and models gliding through the White House.

Bill was a savy politician and generally likeable as public figure.

Trump just says what everybody else actually thought but wouldnt say it. Politically not very smart but irrelevant in a lot of ways.

Now it's a reach to say that everyone else thought what Trump was saying. I have been appalled and embarrassed by him on many occasions.

The meat of what he is saying resonates with many people. I for one appreciate the things he is trying to say, but disagree with the way he delivers it some of the time.

There's no way they are looking into each other's eyes every morning. I bet they have had less than 15 seconds of direct eye contact since the inauguration.

During the health care debate, President Obama explained all the benefits of ObamaCare, saying, “The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system.”

Not really. If I've learned anything it's that the good ones allow you to hear what you want to.
