Good points, not the same role as Dubar but just in terms of a 1 year transfer player you hope he plays more, contributes more than DD.Did we get him to necessarily play off the bench/in that kinda role?
Dubar played mainly at the 4, and he didn't get a ton of minutes. I'm thinking Abram is going to playing guard and hopefully getting a lot more playing time than Dubar.
As I stated in another thread, he told Barnes that he wanted to be coached hard. Barnes said that he can make that happen. There’s a few that have already touched on it in this thread and the transfer portal thread, but his reasons for transferring seem a little more reasonable than a lot of other players with multiple transfers. There doesn’t seem to anything that indicates character issues, if that’s what you’re worried about. I trust Barnes to make that judgment call anyway.
Yea, 4 years ago we were a dumpster fire. We've had the best 3 year run since Fulmer in the 90's. We just spent a whole bunch of money on a high school class. Heupel went 7-6 (and should have beaten OM) in a year with 55 scholarships. Just enjoy what we have right now. He's a great football coach. I look at big picture. We haven't lost anything yet. It’s coming and we really lit the woods on fire and looked ready to play in our playoff game. Tell me one good thing about the football team since the Vandy game. I can’t really think of one. Can you?
Don’t disagree but something is going on with everyone leaving and not being able to hit on one good player in the portal. Not one!Yea, 4 years ago we were a dumpster fire. We had 23 early enrollees that took our roster to 82. We couldn't add anyone in the spring. We just had 6-7 leave, and now we are adding for depth. We like what we have as starters, and some transfers want starter money. We are only adding for depth. Other than Jakobe Thomas, I don't believe we lost anyone we truly wanted.Don’t disagree but something is going on with everyone leaving and not being able to hit on one good player in the portal. Regardless of whether Nico played well or average, the program did make the first ever 12 team playoff. So, we navigated it. Things happen that you don’t expect sometimes, and it is how you respond. I just spoke to our coach last night for the second time. He’s personable and a damn good football coach. He won’t always do it the way others think it should be done. Others also don’t have all of the facts- like how much money he has access to. He’s about to have two 5 star QB’s on the roster next year. I expect good things.I can’t argue with either view on JH. On the results alone, he’s done well. Beneath the surface, there are potential cracks in the foundation. Nico was his QB to prove he could take an elite HS recruit and win big with. Mixed results on the field with a bad ending. Now he has to prove he can sustain the program or take it another notch higher.
While this isn't the appropriate forum to discuss this. We went to the college football playoff last season. That's hardly mixed results on the field.I can’t argue with either view on JH. Good point about trusting Barnes. Guess I’m just grumping. I seem to do a lot of that these days in relation to college sports. There’s a few that have already touched on it in this thread and the transfer portal thread, but his reasons for transferring seem a little more reasonable than a lot of other players with multiple transfers. It burnt a year, right now he has 1 year remaining, if the 5th year passes then he’ll have 2.If he can shoot near his 36% average 3 pt shooting that would be great! Good free throw shooter last season as well. Could be our next Jordan Gainey, 6th man of the year finalist.
Did the year at GT burn a year of eligibility? or was he able to preserve it becuase of injury? Or was it a Cameron Carr stunt where he sits out hoping the NCAA changes their rules and grants him an extra year, but to this point have not?
