Really curious about the whole GT situation. Did he just leave? Injury?

I’d imagine it’s nothing terrible or else Barnes wouldn’t bother.

Been trying to find why, but the handful of articles I've been able to find talking about him entering the portal from GT or committing to LA Tech don't even list a reason. They all basically just say that he seemed promising but only ended up playing 10 games and only a handful of minutes in ACC play. The SB Nation site that covers GT speculated very lightly that he and Stoudamire (the HC) didn't get along and that led to his benching, but that seemed speculative at best in the reporting.

He had a hand/ finger issue that he couldn't get past that season. Issue started when he was at Ole Whizz. Didn't gel with the GT staff, didn't have much of an NIL profile after that season. Ended up transferring down to transfer back up. He will be a match up issue for some defenders, especially on switches, because he's a lefty. He can be a 10-12 ppg guy here with a few bigger games mixed in when he's on.

“Amaree is a high-level athlete with quality defensive ability who can really shoot the ball from 3-point range. He takes pride in guarding the opponent's best offensive player, which is a mindset we love here at Tennessee. Amaree is a mature young man with leadership skills who loves basketball and we think he is a strong fit for our program."

My kind of player. Adams can go where he wishes. Won't sweat it for a second.

Decent 3% and apparently plays good defense. I'll take it.

That's my biggest question for next season, who's going to be the lockdown guy ala Pons and Mashack? We know team defense as a whole will be good.

Did I miss something? One year at each stop? Does he even bother to unpack?
There’s a few that have already touched on it in this thread and the transfer portal thread, but his reasons for transferring seem a little more reasonable than a lot of other players with multiple transfers. There doesn’t seem to anything that indicates character issues, if that’s what you’re worried about. I trust Barnes to make that judgment call anyway.

GoVols 24/7 Pod said he is a former top 100 recruit and was the #4 scorer at Ole Miss his freshman year. Put up 8 points against Tennessee.
