Coke is mainly water. While most liquids contract when cooled, the unique molecular structure of water involving the hydrogen bonds causes it to expand when cooled.
My son left an unopened Diet Coke can on the dash of my truck at the boat ramp. It was lodged where the dash meets the windshield. It got hot and expanded enough to crack my windshield, before the top blew out.
