All things STOCKS

Beginning of E-trade and AmeriTrade and Datek/Deltek/something...I think?

Paying $19.95 per trade

It is a new day.

Datek. Before Schwab ended up owning most of the “deep discount” brokers. Ameritrade (and the Think or Swim platform). Waterhouse. TD Waterhouse. Scottrade. Datek. They’re all Schwab now.

Touch tone trading was $29.99/trade. It was a big deal when they had to compete and got the price down to $9.99/trade. Brown and Company was another deep discount brokerage.

Then if you were really on the cutting edge you’d get a pocket quote machine. Live stock quotes over an FM frequency. Quotrek. Pocket Monitor.

So you thinking interest rates are not getting lowered? If they don’t I can definitely see some negative market reaction. If they are lowered, then it’s hard not to predict some positive market movement?
I'm extremely conservative right now in same vein due to Yom Kippur. Historically, September is the worst month. Many would argue it is directly tied to that holiday season.

The Jewish religion has enough money in market, when they stop trading for couple of weeks, you can see the difference.

One of you guys who understands those details better than I can clean up the description and whatever I'm misstating. I'm not Jewish.

Would add, last year, September/October held up very well.
