All things STOCKS

Copying the post from the Politics Forum:

If you have cash to cover the taxes, this pullback is a great opportunity to convert traditional IRAs and 401(k)s to Roth accounts.

You can convert a portion of those accounts to Roths as well. You don’t have to convert entire accounts.

Check with your financial and tax advisors.

Futures are well up from the early numbers, but are still indicating that there’s more of the same recent pattern to start the week. Selling pressure after any rally. Especially after big ones like on Friday.

Yeah I think so.

I'm in on Nike at close. I think we see a rebound. Don't listen to me.
Pulled trigger on NKE 71.95

Got ACN after opening this AM.
Do either of you wear Nike shoes?
Are Nike, Adidas, Brooks, NB, etc. bought because the wearer thinks they are good or because they are trendy.? Both?

"see a rebound" ? The stock price or more on feet?

I think NKE will eventually figure out ath-leisiue (women). Didnt buy big at all but will really jump in under 70...

In Trump's first term, he floated the idea of a border adjustment tax that nearly everyone hated (the reason TCJA was so poorly written/rushed through was the time spent on this border tax). Trump eventually dropped it when he realized he didnt have enough R support.

In 17, margins for many industries tightened and that was due to purchasing uncertainties because of this proposal. Nobody expects that he will keep this same posture for all 4 yrs but you are seeing the first hints of margin constriction again like 17 as referenced by NKE, FDX, and WMT calls. Companies are going to modify purchasing until they get a good handle on what 25-28 will look like....

Might have missed the bottom, but it’s not a bad time to add some industrials for the LT. XLI. ROC. VIS.

I’m on the fence with Bitcoin. Some say it will be a million dollars per coin soon. Some say zero. I wish that the origins were less speculative and more factual about where it came from. Also, what if cyber criminals come up with a way to steal them?

I didn’t like the possibility of taxing munis at some point. Heard that floated on one of the weekend TV shows.

My big worry with BTC is quantum computing which will eliminate the anonymity part of it.

I’m cautious that it might have been created by China and they could pull the plug on or disrupt it at some point. Maybe that’s tin foil hat theory, but somebody or something is behind it.

You’d think 16 years into it there’d be a more factual historical origin than an anonymous person called Satoshi Nakamoto.

I doubt the Chinese created it. They don't innovate anything.
