All things Muschamp (merged)

My personal opinion(although i am sure none care) is that WM would not be an excellent hire. Maybe for something short term, but UT need someone who calls UT a dream job. They need someone who wants to build the program back. Will would have other reasons. I think he would be fools gold.

SURE I CARE. Your only RUBBING in that 54 points everytime you post!!! I adore you. Want to come over to dinner? Have sex with my wife? Take my dog for a walk. :good!:

No. Really, I'm kidding man. You don't smell like the catpause type so your okay in my book. And I agree with your post. :)

play nice. they wont be around long. scurry off now:eek:lol:

If there were talks about money and power, what's the best leverage in the negotiation?
Hey let's leak that we don't want it anymore and have Tennessee give us what we want...
This is not dead yet.

This is not dead yet.
If they were negotiating, him backing out just means he's trying to bring leverage to his side of the table.
This negotiation is far from dead until Mack Brown or Mike Hamilton announce that WM won't be UT's next coach.

don't want him. not proven at the HC level, asks like a spoiled brat on the sidelines during games, and if he managed to have success at the real UT, we'll be watching a press conference in a few years about how great it is to fulfill his life-long dream of coaching at UGA.

Even though he may not be our next coach he is they type of guy we need. He is LOYAL to the place he wants to be!!!

Where is the promotion? Oklahoma could play for a Natl Champ next season. Tenn just got set back quite a bit. I can't see a coach like Stoops coming to Tenn. with the work that it requires right now. I am still puzzled why Chris Petersen keeps getting overlooked for vacancies.

Petersen's child has a brain tumor and he has stated he won't move his family. Not too mention he has no desire to coach on the East Coast. He doesn't get overlooked. He flat turns them down.

He has turned down the following:

USC
UCLA
Washington
Mississippi State
Virginia
Texas Tech
Washington State

He's going to build a dynasty at BSU and I believe he'll end up winning a MNC in Boise. It can be done...in 2010.

Wes Rucker says that the negotiations are not over yet according to his Twitter.

A press release means nothing.

CWM is the same as all 'coaches in waiting', he wants to be a head coach now and not 5-6 years from now. If the money and other accomodations are within an acceptable range I believe he will leave Texas an take a HC position at any top tier university and certainly Tennessee. Not being ambitious enough to want such a position sooner rather than later would speak volumes about his confidence in being in the lead position. Many people in life are more content to follow rather than lead - there's nothing wrong with that but a true head coach mentality would find it unacceptable.

You got to think all of these guys have families. They will have to run it by the wife and kids before they say anything.

I just talked to Slick Rick and he said, "Slick Rick says that there's no way Muschamp comes to Tennessee."

Faildozer expressed similar sentiments, only he didn't speak in the third person.

No, Texas just has more money than anyone else and is the easiest place to win at in CFB..which is why it's probably the top job in the sport.

He's making 1.3 million this year as a defensive coordinator and there are reports that he is getting another raise up to 1.8-2 million after turning down Tennessee. A defensive coordinator is about to be one of the top 15 paid coaches in CFB and he's not even a head coach. Hell he's going to be making more than almost every NFL coordinator.

One of my clients said the deal was 5 years at $3.7 mil per year. But he was getting his info secondhand from his friend down in texas.

Muschamp's giving up an extra $2 mil per year in salary to stay as coach in waiting at texas??? If mack brown coaches 10 more years: 10 x $2 mil = $20 mil in lost salary!!!! Will---wake up and take the money!!

There's a lot more to consider than just money here folks.

1.) He will eventually take over an already established powerhouse of a program that will not need rebuilding.

2.) Other than playing Oklahoma, Texas has it fairly easy in the big 12. Would NOT be the case in the SEC.

3.) Maybe he and his family are happy with where they live. Asking someone to uproot and move his entire family to another state is asking a lot, no matter how much money.

Troy Calhoun is not a triple option coach..AFA is a triple option school because of the talent... you doofs should take a break and check your info before getting on here and looking stupid..

One news sources out of Dallas dosen't seem like a legit confirmation of him staying. Until he comes out himself or one of the big sports news sources says he is staying at Texas I still think we have a shot at him.

I do not want Calhoun at all. If this guy is hired Hamilton should be fired on the spot. Hamilton really has done a ****ty job the last couple of years and the only thing that is saving him is the Pearl hire. The extension and raise for Fulmer and we had to turn around and buyout his contract. Also the whole Lane Kiffin hiring because he didn't hire Lane but rather the package that came with him. You dont hire a coach on who he can bring but rather the coach himself.

104.5 The Zone just said that Muschamp has said he wants to stay at Texas, but Hubbs said the Hamilton is not going to give up on him.
