All things Muschamp (merged)

no offense to you or the mrs. coach boom, but i have been to austin many a time and in no way was impressed and in no way would i ever want to build a life there. but hey if she loves having an unlimited supply of frontage roads and millions of bats that fly out of a cave than hey maybe austin is where she wants to spend her time. there is a small portion of austin that is appealing and i am sure that her nice house right up outside downtown is appealing, but if she were to venture beyond that small area she might change her mind. money certainly would. but i guess everything is bigger in texas including all of your egos. but welcome to the nation of the real ut.

Hi folks. You, like every school with a head coaching vacancy in the past 2 years, is very excited about the possibility about bringing the infamous Coach Boom to your campus. I applaud you for your enthusiasm, but it is misplaced. You can offer him whatever you want, but there are two things that you can't match: a) our dough and b)Austin.

Now, I know that with your new TV deal with ESPN that SEC schools have bounties they have never had before. That's irrelevant compared to our revenue. It really is. Number one in NCAA, and second place really isn't even close.

I'm sure that Knoxville is great, I have nothing against your city. I've never been there, and I do wish to see a football game in your fine stadium one day. But the fact of the matter is, the person that really controls what's going to happen, Mrs. Coach Boom, wants to build a life in Austin. Sorry, she fell in love with the city, she's tired of hopping around the country, and she's staying put. She's told the Mr. so much. I believe the exact quote is something to the tune of, "you can go wherever you like, but me and the kids are staying in Austin."

Take it for what it's worth, but there really is no chance of Muschamp coaching here...unless Texas visits Knoxville sometime. Despite what any of the posters here say with their "inside knowledge", know this: it is on public record that the Mrs would be none too happy with ANY move, and we can match ANY amount that ANYone offers to coach.

I had heard so much about Austin. I looked forward to going there for years. We finally made the trip.....and I'm not sure I've ever been so disappointed in a city. I mean, it was fine, I had a good time, there was plenty of beer.....but after all the hype, it was pretty much a big letdown. My friends who live there kept taking my places and taking me places and I never could quite get why it was supposed to be so awesome.

Maybe the Mrs. just likes to watch the bats fly out every night.

So your saying several billion dollars in endowment has nothing to do with UT-austin. OK can I have it then? You can keep the football revenue.
Bit slow for being an Emory grad, aren't you? The endowment and state taxes only pay a small portion of the coach's salary (there's a 45k employee institution to run outside of football you know), nothing out of the ordinary for a top flight professor. The rest comes from what the program can generate on its own, and this is the same for any University. That's why tv revenue, booster money, endorsements, and ticket sales are so important.

The "Texas grad" comes in here with his nose in the air and his eloquent speaking.

Honestly, as we've said with every other troll that comes to these great forums, "thanks for showing us the light. We could not have figured this out without you."

Please keep sharing your vast knowledge that surpasses all mankind with us. Please.

I laughed out loud at that.

From what I hear the Texas forums are awfully boring. The only reason a Texas fan would troll here is because he's scared. I have a feeling BUD isn't so convinced WM is staying in Texas. If he was he wouldn't be over here trolling right now...

Many of you clearly do not have any knowledge of the University of Tennessee or its alumni. UTK has approximately 30k students, please consider this as we are a smaller "major" university when comparing to Flordia's (50k+ students) and Texas (60k+). I would hope that your schools have more money based on sheer numbers alone. Harvard, well since it is argued to be the premierm college in america I would hope all that genius could produce some cash for them, and those big trusts of theirs should perform well with a faculty and student body comprised of the brightest minds in the country.
However, UTK can stand with anyone in the country financially. UTK alums Jim Haslam is worth over 800 million and Jim Clayton over $620 million alone. Their money, along with the many other wealthy alums we (and every school) have, and there is no reason to think we can't compete financially. Coachs don't get paid billions, so whats it matter? Haslam played football for UTK, won a national championship, played under the legendary Gen. Robert Neyland (which if you didn't know, coached the only team in modern football to go an entire season without giving up any pts, defensively, special teams, turnover.. none, actually they only gave up 42pts over a 3yr period)

To the point, UTK can financially compete with any school in the country. Hamilton is flying the nation right now with a blank check in his pocket. I can assure any of you Volunteer football is as important if not more important to the TN community as any program in country. Money will not be an issue, as will tradition, facilities, support, or fan base.

LQTM, dude you are truly entertaining. So why are you on here? Seems like you are worried? We do not even want him that bad...he just fits under are present circumstance.

So now you come to insults...no one said it is not important. You said and now realize your error that oil had nothing to do with you wealth as an institution. A statement you clearly made in error. So what now? Shall we skip the small talk and go to I am rubber you are glue.

I suggest you be more careful in the statements you make and perhaps you will be correct more often. Billions are greater then millions just remember that. Revenue does not equal profit as well. Endowment=investment continual. Your revenue stream fluctuates. And most importantly..................

How does it feel to be raped by a giant elephant?

I never made an error, I was talking about football Revs (which is what football coaches are paid from, thought that was assumed knowledge?). You made the jump to other monies, and I simply corrected you.

I am still waiting on an answer to the bolded question. And I am sorry you made an error on a board read by thousands. You now have represented your entire state and university poorly. Don't be a Lane and just face the music.

He said it was an "institution". The "Institution at Texas".. .Isn't that what it's called?

football revenues don't really pay a coaches salary. It supports the university. Since football is the main, and in most universities cases, the only sports that generates a positive stream of income it is their responsibility to support the entire athletic departments. Since the passing of title IX, look it up if your not familiar because it is pretty ridiculous in that it does bring equality between male and female sports, football programs must pay for womens volleyball, the rowing team, or skiffle ball.. whatever varsity sports you may have. They are also required to give a large portion of they proceeds to academics, after all it is a University.

It is common knowledge that boosters are the financial backbones behind the inflated salaries of football coaches.

I made sure to bold only the truthful parts for the Texas graduate to read.

Wouldn't know. It was a great game, and I just feel bad for McCoy and the way his career ended. I do feel good about the next 5 years of Longhorn football. How do you feel about your next 5 years?
And I am sorry you made an error on a board read by thousands.
Uhm, what error? Do you have a reading disability?
You now have represented your entire state and university poorly.
yeah, sure, whatever you say, Marge.
Don't be a Lane and just face the music.
Music? Oh, is the dj taking requests?

Im not gonna get much sleep till I find out who the new HC is....

BTW -please dont feed the horn troll, he doesnt even know what hes talking about.

1. UTjr is by FAR the richest college football program, clearing 65 million in profit, uga is second with 45, so they are by far richer, and more arrogant apparently.
Texas wins college football's dollar championship - Dec. 31, 2009

2. UTjr's athletic department doesnt take in a dime from the school and is self sufficient.

3. He doesnt even recognize that one of the biggest factors in Muschamps decision is when MB is gonna retire which depends on one huge factor, when Old Deloss Dodds retires as AD. He is in his 70s and will retire in next couple years. Only MB can fill his shoes so Muschamp would only have to wait 2 or 3 years.

With that said, I don't think Muschamp will come here, but still hoping for a miracle.
