All things Muschamp (merged)

I would like to see what Muschamp can do in Knoxville, but I'm not sure if he'll leave Texas. He's an idiot if he doesn't, but Texas is going to make it tough for him to leave. They'll probably try to give him a fat raise in pay.

At this point, however, I will not be able to give any new coach the benefit of the doubt until he has proven himself for probably a couple of seasons. By "proven," I mean he has to show he can win AND that he is really committed to his players in orange and to the University. Kiffin's douce-bag clown act has ruined my trust. I will be a skeptic for now.

The new coach will, however, have my full support as a Vols fan. He is just going to have to do more than talk. I'll bet there are a lot of fans who feel the same way.

My brain agrees

The full original article is from a guy in Texas' athletic department quoting a conversation from Muschamp before he may have even got the offer. We do not know. I guess I just really want it to be him rather then some of the other prospects. Talent and recruting is more then half of SEC football. Hamilton gets that. Kiffin was the hire for that reason.

I am sure we will know by tomorrow afternoon latest. If not Muschamp next guy will be offerred right away.

Talked to Sexton's client development director tonight and he said that Muschamp was really wanting to take the job at first and the contract was great but as the night wore on his feet got colder and colder... the way he was talking I would wait til the morning tho.

"I"m happy at Texas and plan to be here for a long time," Muschamp said through a Texas football spokesman.

He added that he has not interviewed for any other jobs nor does he have intention to do so.

Dude spud you can keep posting the same thing all day. It may be the truth but it is not a quote Muschamp gave the media. It is a quote from the Athletic Department that even states it is from earlier in the day. I guess you just feel like doing it for fun.

Hi folks. You, like every school with a head coaching vacancy in the past 2 years, is very excited about the possibility about bringing the infamous Coach Boom to your campus. I applaud you for your enthusiasm, but it is misplaced. You can offer him whatever you want, but there are two things that you can't match: a) our dough and b)Austin.

Now, I know that with your new TV deal with ESPN that SEC schools have bounties they have never had before. That's irrelevant compared to our revenue. It really is. Number one in NCAA, and second place really isn't even close.

I'm sure that Knoxville is great, I have nothing against your city. I've never been there, and I do wish to see a football game in your fine stadium one day. But the fact of the matter is, the person that really controls what's going to happen, Mrs. Coach Boom, wants to build a life in Austin. Sorry, she fell in love with the city, she's tired of hopping around the country, and she's staying put. She's told the Mr. so much. I believe the exact quote is something to the tune of, "you can go wherever you like, but me and the kids are staying in Austin."

Take it for what it's worth, but there really is no chance of Muschamp coaching here...unless Texas visits Knoxville sometime. Despite what any of the posters here say with their "inside knowledge", know this: it is on public record that the Mrs would be none too happy with ANY move, and we can match ANY amount that ANYone offers to coach.

I feel like doing it to inject some reality into the discussion. Muschamp says he hasn't interviewed and isn't taking the job.

Wow...Pit of vipers in Memphis. I do not want to support any coach from the Sexton cabal.

How did he get offerred? So he did not interview but he got an offer? Which makes more sense? I am really not saying he did not reject but he sure did interview. That quote is what he told Texas before talking to Hammy bank on it. Even he rejected the offer that quote is nothing more then coach speak. He covered all his bases.

You may want to check out your own forums, BUD. I hear some of your own want to have a word with you about showing some class:birgits_giggle:

So you will pay 3 million to your DC?
You obviously do not have an actual grasp of the digits that are available to the Longhorn Athletic budget. Once the door was opened with the title "head coach in waiting" and Mack's new raise to $5mil, it now allows for that possibility.

Actually I am more then aware. I am an Emory grad...Harvard, Emory and Texas have all been the richest schools depending on the market at anytime. Emory rises and falls on coke stock. Texas is related to its oil endowment.

So do it...pay him...I double dog dare you.

I'm all for your school paying a DC $3+ million for 5-10 yrs. I'm sure that will sit as well with the faculty as Mack's raise did.

no offense to you or the mrs. coach boom, but i have been to austin many a time and in no way was impressed and in no way would i ever want to build a life there. but hey if she loves having an unlimited supply of frontage roads and millions of bats that fly out of a cave than hey maybe austin is where she wants to spend her time. there is a small portion of austin that is appealing and i am sure that her nice house right up outside downtown is appealing, but if she were to venture beyond that small area she might change her mind. money certainly would. but i guess everything is bigger in texas including all of your egos. but welcome to the nation of the real ut.

considering Mrs. Coach Boom is from Georgia, around Atlanta, I would see TN being very appealing to her since its only 3.5 hrs from Knoxville.
