There sure have been some wild rumors today. Sexton's son told some folks I know today that Patterson was #2 on Tennessee's list. I wanted to believe it, but then he said that #3 was a recently fired Pirate.

If by "winner" you mean "a guy who beats the Hell out of the New Mexico States and Baylors of the world, gets killed in every meaningful road game his team plays, and finishes with 8 wins a year and a crappy bowl," that's certainly Mike Leach.

If that idiot Hamilton hires Cutcliffe I hope every Vol fan within a hundred miles of Knoxville marches on the campus and demands his immediate firing. And more importantly, I hope the boosters who had enough sense to force out Fulmer can his ass and tell Cutty thanks but no thanks. Just what we need - a coach who has done nothing as a HC (I know he went to the SECCG once, he had Eli) and is two years removed from heart surgery and will make about as much of a splash with recruits as I would.

They are the lowest rated station in Nashville, with 3 sportcasters who know nothing about sports except rumor mills or gossip groups. If some of you are going to base your confirmations off a local Nashville ABC affiliate, you need new sources. I guarantee they got this from the Dallas morning news.

Sexton is doing this deal, WM is just getting the headlines & giving his approval of the final deal, thus the blanket statement of not negotiating deals with any team.
