Hamilton can't offer a 6 year contract. It's against state rules. UNLESS, there is a board meeting and it's approved, but that wouldn't be able to happen until at least next week. Just offer a 5 year with a 1 year option.

By the way, Jimmy Hyams is reporting that one of his sources is telling him that Kiffin has expressed interest in the USC job. Will update at the sports fix @ 6.

if the hang up is actually whether the contract is 5 years or 6 then M.H. is honestly a walking tampon for CUM. The question should not be length it should be buyout. If we hire this guy and have a low buyout we're s.o.l. again. He's going to do a good job. He'll save probably most of the class. But he might walk on us for GA or TX. Seriously, if the problem is the length of the contract, if this is true, then w'ere really in trouble.

I don't see what difference a 5 or 6 year contract makes to a coach. It is not like they stand up very well when it comes to getting rid of them or the coach leaving the university. Basically a worthless piece of paper in my opinion.

Nothing like a good Hyams joke to break the tension. Why the heck didnt that buffoon press Hamilton on the buyout at the press conference??

Chaney was interviewing for other jobs last week. Brings to question the last two weeks of rumors of our coaches looking. They knew what was coming.

I hate to say this, because I think Fulmer wasn't over-rated and only good because of his OC and DC, but he was a true vol through and through and that makes me kinda miss him. If he would have just hired an OC and let the OC do his thing and played over-seer we'de be ok right now. Chavis wasn't perfect but he wasn't horrible. We did a lot of good things under Chavis. And if Fulmer had been able to knock out Spurrier, in the years when you should have, we would have had probably 2 more championsips. Either way, I want a coach who bleeds orange and is from TN and considers this home. I don't want someone who just wants the money.

Will Muschamp was the top target to replace Lane Kiffin at Tennessee, but multiple sources have indicated Muschamp will stay in Austin as the Longhorns' defensive coordinator and eventual successor to Mack Brown. Were people at Texas ever worried, and what's a big reason Muschamp is staying

just found this at orangebloods.com texas type of volnation

I read somewhere that Mack Brown's contract runs through 2016. If Muschamp gets a 6 year from 2010-15 then takes over Brown's job, it all adds up... Interesting to see how it plays out!

Where is Jim Chaney? I thought he'd be the interim instead of Kippy considering the experience at Purdue?

I initially thought the same thing, but suppose the search lasts beyond this week, and, meanwhile, Chaney gets lured back to the NFL. Then, we have to name a second interim coach.
