If that is what it takes for you to win, good luck with that.

Well seeing how things are going for you guys, we're happy to loan Pat out to sing in Gainesville for you...it will be Rocky Top. You guys need all the help you can get.

Its going to be late when the game starts, very few people in the stands, maybe less than a thousand. And here will be LSU, clinging to NCAA hopes. This is what you might call a trap game for UT.

Beware.
Anything is possible.Although UT's motivation will come from receiving higher seeding. As a Gator fan you know all about SEEDS...right?:)

Oh, sure. But seeding in the conference tournament is less significant than in the NCAA tourney because the teams at the top of the conference, generally speaking, have less motivation than the teams in the middle.

Now, LSU is the team at the bottom. But everyone out there knows that they are dangerous if they choose to be. Will they come out flat, ready for Spring Break, as hatvol predicts?

Or will they come out angling to prove themselves, to show that the season has been flukish, to at least put themselves in position to take a shot at an NCAA tournament berth should they suddenly find themselves playing on Saturday and only two wins away from getting in?

I am just saying do not count your chickens until the fat lady sings, is all.

LSU is arguably the most underachieving team in Division I. If there's any pride amongst this squad, they'll come out ready to play. Unlike, say, South Carolina, if LSU gets hot, they actually have the talent to challenge for the tournament title. If they come out flat, UT will roll 'em up by 20.

You should have your hands full with Georgia or Auburn according to your rationale. beating the Gators and advancing is the only shot they have of making the tourney. Scary when you are already in and clinging to a 2 seed.

You know the last time you came on here running your skinner about UT bb not only did UT stomp the turds but you got serenaded by Pat. So keep it up.

The only thing I know for certain regarding our performance in this tournament is what has been true the entire year.... We come out without total commitment to defending the ball and running at our tempo, we lose. We simply don't have the size to impose offense on anyone. It's been true when we've lost, it's been true when we've won.

The Vols have yet to put together a run in a weekend tournament. Not last year at SEC. Not weekend one at NCAA. Not even beginning this year at NIT. It is time for these guys to take another step up the ladder. Tourney toughness 203 is in session. It's time to prove we've been paying attention in class...

Excellent post. Do your guys have the mental toughness to eek out wins against quality opponents without 20,000 Vols fans in the stands? The SEC tournament will tell you a lot about where they are in terms of maturity.

I think the answer is yes. Those four freshmen seemed to mature alot in the past four weeks and I think Lofton looked truly healthy for the first time just this past week. This team seems to get it now, get what they must do to excel. The fans will be there, but they will not be the thing to make this work....I think.

I'm eager to see if I'm right. Bruce is probably very curious as well..

My kids call me "Bummer Man" for my unwillingness to always predict a Tenn win (in any sport). I will say this...I feel good about the LSU game. If we have had any coach that had the ability to impress the players on the importance of playing well, without the corresponding pressure, it's CBP. I have seen pressure negatively affect the Vols....going all the way back to losing to the Keydets (VCU). Again, I feel good about the LSU game - I think the Vols will try and make this a "statement" game...

Less than a thousand? Nah.

I have been persuaded that I am way off on that. Did not realize there were that many Vols in the Atlanta area, although once it was pointed out to me it made a lot of sense.

In Atlanta or not, I think Pearl has added this trip to the itineraries of a lot of Vol fans, LG. He has really brought the team to life again.

No one has suggested otherwise. I'm just saying its a late game where there just won't be that same atmosphere -- good, bad, or even hostile -- that the players are accustomed to for getting energy. It would be easy to come out flat. And if LSU does decide to give it all they've got to try to win four and get to the NCAAs ...

Just saying it has that feel to it as a possible upset opportunity for LSU.

You'll probably smoke 'em by 20.

I just can't see us smoking a team away from Knoxville. I can see us winning, but 20 is too much.

Law, give up on LSU trying to make the NCAA's. The team has given up why can't you?

LOL. Are you sure about that quit?

Are you sure about that 15 minutes? Did you get your grits from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?
