Again, not saying he is only choice. OP asked for the name of a better coach who is available. Art Briles is available. He is a proven coach with a better record. Not saying we hire him. Just proving a point.

Realistic option should be assumed when someone ask for an option. Briles is not a realistic option. Briles allowed his players to rape / sexually assualt women on campus and did nothing, then defended doing nothing. At some point Humanity has to come into play. A university that just wrapped up a title 9 lawsuit, isnt about to walk into another one.

So when someone ask for options and you name Briles, you validate their argument.

There is no true answer to the original question. Not enough so called "proven coaches" out there to satisfy the so-called "quick fix" scenario that seems to be what many want.
Sometimes, the people that do the hiring in the College Football landscape need to zero in on a few coaches, head or assistant and ask the right questions and not take BS answers or "coach speak" for the truth.

Either it is a lack of coaching ability, laziness or just not really knowing what it takes to get a top D-1 program like TN back on track that is keeping Jones from winning. Whatever it is, Jones must either find a way to start being a Head Coach (which means if he has to be the hard ass that somebody like a Saban is at the office, firing people, etc) than he needs to do it. Basically, do the damn job he's been hired to do. I haven't read of any personal attack on Jones. College football is a business nowadays. It isn't personal.

Whatever the outcome, whether he stays or they bring in some 'unknown'. If Jones doesn't compete for a SEC Div and SEC Title next year, than many will look back and say that Jones should have been canned and a different coach given the reins, because really, if the results are the same with or WITHOUT Jones, what's the difference?

So far we've got Briles, Petrino and Les Miles, lol, sorry I'll stick with Butch for now

I support my team and the coaches are part of my team. I want them to be successful. Period.
Those of you who are giddy over the situation are sad.

And this is where I believe so many get divided among us.

I don't view coaches as part of the team necessarily. They get paid. Fans don't get paid. Players don't get paid. Coaches do. I want the program to be successful, sometimes that means getting rid of a coaches or coaches. Sometimes you can't support both the coach and the team.

Did you support Dooley in his third year? Do you think Dooley should still be here?

UT 2016 8-4 = 67%
All time 819-374-53 = 68%
CPF 150-52 = 74%

Forbes Magazine - 2015 Profits:
#2 - Tennessee - $70 mil #10 - Alabama - $46 mil = UT football profit was 33% more than Bama

Stats tell me UT is winning almost exactly the same % as they have through their history, and why would they spend millions more for another coach when they are making more money than everyone but TEXAS. Football is a business for UT. Fans think with their hearts

What do the numbers tell others?

It's not always about who ought to be the coach. Sometimes it's about who ought not be the coach.

Every time you change, there's risk. There are VERY few proven ones out there. The only question is this: What are your expectations for the program, and can the current coaching staff meet those expectations?

If you you say "no," then you go through the process and get the best guy available. Just like we did with CBJ. He wasn't a bad hire, but at this point, it seems pretty obvious that he won't be much more than he is now.

As I wrote in another thread, I am content with the unknown because CBJ is known, and I don't like what I know. He has my "no confidence" vote. I hate the notion of starting over, but I hate the notion of being this for the foreseeable future as well.

Not living in Tennessee, this video was my first exposure to Clay Travis. While I agree with the overall premise of his argument, he comes off as a major league D-bag. Jmo.

I've been trying to tell people who say they want to get "Tennessee back" well we are back when we are winning 8-9 games...but they are focused on the outlier years of the mid nineties...which is what we all want...but there is no guarantee of that by pushing the reset button now.

You are correct in your douche bag assessment...think Finebaum with hair..he loves to troll people, and his fave target is Tennessee...and rightfully so because our fans fall for it each time.
