Makes absolutely 0 sense if it is Friend, no reason in that case to not announce and tout up his resume of accomplishments even mention how he knows the system, year two see's substantial growth, very much involved in '18 yada yada yada...
Has to be an NFL guy or someone in the playoffs, otherwise just delaying is silly and poor managed.... in that case, probably is Friend.
Ok then explain why nothing has been said by now?? If Will was getting promoted word would have gotten out by now...
At this point I thinks it pretty obvious it’s an NFL guy.
Then why not announce? There is no rule against it and it would obviously be a guy not going to the playoffs.
Face it, if he has his guy (outside hire) there is absolutely no reason not to announce even if he has to finish out his season. If it's a college guy playing in a meaningless bowl and he's delaying for that, CJP and or the new OC have no business here.
I don’t know the exact reasons but it’s common practice for NFL coaches to wait until the end of the year to make a move.
I’m sure it has something to do with contract fulfillment or something.
^ThisIt's the old bait and switch
Could you imagine if they went right ahead and announced Friend as OC with all the quality candidates available? The backlash would be epic
Did you see how Voltwitter acted when we found out the BOT was potentially blocking Freeze?
Just imagine if they didn't "interview " other candidates before announcing Friend as OC
This way, UT has the " well, we tried but nobody else really wanted the job" out
Of course, they will no doubt, hype Friend( if he is hired) and most of the fans will lap it up like always
I've seen this dog and pony show in Knoxville enough to see the proverbial writing on the wall
