'22 AL WR Marquarius White (Tennessee signee)

White received a scholarship offer from first-year Tennessee coach Josh Heupel's staff in February, and the Vols have made him a priority over the past few months. They're still searching for their first wide-receiver commitment in the 2022 class, and White appears to be one of their best options.

Sources told GoVols247 that Tennessee remains in good shape with White coming off his official visit with the Vols. I made a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast on Monday for Tennessee to land him.

The Vols have been among the top contenders for the speedy White since joining the race for him more than four months ago. Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Florida State also have extended offers to him since March, and he now holds offers from nearly 20 schools in all. In April, he named a top 10 of Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Michigan, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Georgia Tech and Louisville.

By the end of April, he had scheduled an official visit to Tennessee. He said at the time that the Vols were talking with him on a daily basis, and they were one of a handful of teams recruiting him hardest, along with Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and Alabama.

White's official visit to Tennessee more than a week ago only further confirmed some of his reasons for liking the Vols and improved his opinion of the program overall.

Sources said he has built a strong relationship with wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and other members of Tennessee's staff, and the Vols view him as a potentially explosive slot receiver who could thrive in their uptempo offense.
