Sources close to Thomas recently have indicated that the momentum in his recruitment has continued to shift toward Tennessee going into his official visit with the Vols this weekend. I made a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction Tuesday afternoon for Thomas to flip to Tennessee.

Heupel, Tennessee defensive backs coach Willie Martinez and defensive coordinator Tim Banks visited the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Thomas on Tuesday morning to meet with him leading up to his official visit to Knoxville. The Vols have been in good shape with Thomas for weeks, and sources said he continues to feel good about Tennessee entering the final weeks of his recruitment.

Thomas has yet to reveal a specific timeline for announcing his final decision. But his trip to Knoxville this weekend will provide an opportunity for the Vols to make a move as he prepares to make his choice, and there's reason to believe Tennessee could win out in the end.

The Vols received their first commitment from a Class of 2022 defensive back on Monday, landing cornerback Christian Harrison of Woodward Academy in College Park, Ga. Tennessee still is hoping to add at least a few more defensive backs to its 2022 class, and Thomas currently appears to be one of the Vols' most realistic options. His official visit to Knoxville this weekend has been in the works for weeks, and he has kept a close eye on Tennessee throughout the season.

The only question now is whether the Vols ultimately will be able to land Thomas. Despite his commitment to Mississippi State, multiple sources believe Tennessee currently might be the favorite to land him, and the Vols could improve their chances with an impressive official visit this weekend.

If everything goes according to plan for Tennessee down the stretch, the Vols might be tough to beat for Thomas as he continues to weigh his options approaching the start of the Early Signing Period.
