Maybe but Williams is one hell of an RB coach to have on staff so I don’t know how many could/would refuse.
We kinda did the same thing with RG thoughNoogaVol96 said:
I think AU has made it a requirement to to keep Williams on staff or atleast that is what I read they did when they hired Harsin.

Well that may further limit their pool of coaches as well.
It would be a huge red flag to me. Meddling at it's finest.
I don't see how any big time hire(that's what I'm sure they're after) would be ok with being told who to hire on their staff.
If true, just another reason I think you have to be a fool to take that job.
Freeze is an interesting case. All comes down to what his aspirations are. He's very comfortable at Liberty and has the chance to stay there for a long time and help a team grow from FCS to Independent FBS to a G5 school in C-USA next year. He has a ton of resources at LU and very low expectations. You could argue that, with an expanded playoff, his path to the CFP is easier as a G5 at Liberty than at Auburn. Can Liberty pay what big time SEC schools can pay? No. But they can pay more than most people would think. Hugh's currently making $5/yr over the next 8 and if he keeps winning and building the program, that number will keep climbing.
I'm not saying he doesn't take the Auburn job. He very well may. But this isn't the equivalent of going after the coach at your typical G5 school.
